Rear View Mirror Jiggle??

So i was looking at my rear view mirror that other day, and it moves. Okay now i know that sounds dumb but i mean it moves on the stem. It feels loose.

Picture this: you know how you put your whole hand to adjust it, well now with your hand on the rvm, you can feel it jiggle in your hand. its almost like you have your hand on it and your trying to rotate it around.

im sorry if that sounds convoluted.

im trying to figure out if there is a way to dismantle it to possibly tighten it.

im assuming the base from the BOSE over the years has something to do with it because when i listen to songs with base, the rvm vibrates.

So anyone have an idea how to take apart one of these things?

I seriously doubt the bose subwoofer had anything to do with it.

I have to say a little bit loose and play, but not that serious.

Had the same problem on my (5th Gen) I-30. There's a little set screw underneath or on the back side of the mirror that you can use to tighten it up. The mirror mounts like a bathroom towel rack does...there's a metal mounting plate that is glued to the windshield, then the mirror mounts to the plate. It's a very easy fix.

Talkinghorse: are you talking about the torx that is on the mounting thing on the windshield?

I did mine about a year ago. There's a little set screw on the bottom of the mirror. If the set screw is tight, you'll have to remove the screw and remove the mirror. When you remove the mirror, you'll see a bracket which screws to the mounting plate. The mirror screws to the bracket, and the bracket is screwed to the mounting plate. The mounting plate is glued to the windshield. The problem with mine was that the bracket had loosened up from the mounting plate causing the whole mirror to be loose. It's easy to fix...just a pain.
