It's safe without the bypass valve. I believe someone posted a recall by AEM on the valves a while back.

Just don't drive in flooded areas.

That is not even really true, at least in my case. I have an OSCAI intake and it sucks air from underneath the splash guard. To make a long story short I had to drive thru one of Houston's downpours and ended up going thru at least 6 inches of water to get my family out. No water inhilation. You do have a true aftermarket CAI, but as long as the water does dot make it up to the airfilter (the fender right?)

the recall on the AEM bypass valves is fixed I think.... you could stick one on the PR CAI tubing....

The recall was only on certain part#'s, because the valves on the bypass were coming off and lodging in the throttle body, sticking the throttle wide open. It has been fixed and pertained to certain part numbers that were made...

Maybe you can put it before the MAF if possible... otherwise, you might have to chop the CAI piping.

Thanks for the update guys.

I dont think the Bypass valve is gonna help, I saw somewhere on the net that it showed a cold air intake pipe with about 1 foot of water up the pipe and still was not getting near the engine. I think this was at full throttle and EXCESSIVE water, I believe they actually put it near a bucket of water.

That was to prove that it is not needed.

it should..... there is plenty of air around there also for it to suck in.
