The 3.0 IS more reliable than the 3.5.
The 3.5 is faster, but IMO not that much... Yes, the 3.5 burning oil is an example of Nissans lowered quality standards. I say this because if your 3.5 is burning oil, it's no easy fix. Expensive and 95% of the people on this board (probably more) can't fix it on their own, they NEED to bring it to a shop ($$$$$$), call around local shops and ask for a quote on a ring job for the 3.5 and let me know what they say.
If all you care about is speed, then get a 3.5, but I don't see the point in risking an expensive PIA repair for a slightly faster car, especially since IF you do tend to even use the extra power (drive really hard) you are almost guaranteed to burn oil since you will fry your rings even faster.

It's not that much faster.
We are talking about four-door family sedans right?
I hope I did not stumble into a forum about actual sports cars where real speed and power actually mean something...
It's a frigging FWD boat of a family sedan that is used as DD for almost EVERYONE in this forum. I would take more reliability over a SLIGHTLY faster car any day.

Looks are subjective...
saying that one part looks better on either one makes zero sense in this discussion.
What is not subjective, 5.5 headlights are a common theft item and also very expensive to replace/repair, especially since body damage (fenders/hood/bumper) is common from a theft.

3218 pounds with an automatic, 3224 pounds with a manual
That is less than 100 pounds more than the 3132 listed curb weight of a 2007 Corvette Z06.

I'd hardly call a 5-5.5 gen Maxima a boat, at least when talking weight.
My 5.5 gen isn't an oil burner so obviously I'll take the extra 33 hp it comes with vs a 5th gen.

Speaking of, my brother has a 3.5 Charger and a Dodge Ram Hemi and won't race me with either.
#34
agreed but in some way i think thats what he was saying, thats why looks doesnt count in this particular topic
#35
all maxima's (4th gens and up) will crush a 3.5 charger.......... and it's a fact cause i proved it, multiple ways

I have also driven both... One of the times my Maxima was in the body shop they gave me an 02 "loaner" for the week.
I don't think the extra is worth it, the 3.5 might be faster, but the 3.0 is no slouch either...
