Installing CD changer in trunk?

How have you guys installed aftermarket CD changers in the trunk of the Maxima? Specifically, where did you mount it to? I tried to mount mine to where the Bose subwoofer would be if I had got the premium stereo, but there are no holes for mounting. I also don't want to mount it on the black plastic on the rim at the top of the trunk opening, it would get in the way of the large bags I have to store in the trunk.

Currently my CD changer is stuck on a piece of ply board across the bottom of the trunk. It keeps the changer in place, but it's not exactly a solid set up.

I dunno about aftermarket but i mounted my OEM one on the left side of the trunk in the little nook that the panelling makes. Do you have a mounting kit or anything?

How did you mount it in that nook? There's no backing to support the changer. The covering on the side of the trunk is a flimsy plastic covered with cloth. Did you put a backing board behind there or something?

The Pioneer changer I got has brackets, but no real mounting equipment. You can see how I have the changer bolted to the board with brackets in the attached picture.

Sony Changer

I had my sony xplod changer mounted on the left hand side of my trunk, on the same panel as the bose is mounted. It was mounted just close enough to the trunk hinges that with all the wiring connected and properly mounted, the trunk would close fine. It was mounted with 4 metal piercing screws, each about half an inch long. It looked really good and I am trying to find a pic for you now.

I got it to mount like that cause the mounting kit came with a metal bracket that the changer sat in and the bracket attaches to the chassis of the car. I don't know the dimensions of the bracket, but you might want to call DaveB to see if yours would fit with some modification.

In your pic I see that you have the mounting legs on the changer correct? Well, you can mount them the other way to make the CD Changer stand up instead of lie down.

Hey, thanks for the pic. I didn't want to mount the changer like that because it blocks off some of the space in the trunk opening. I have to put large bags in the trunk, and I don't want to keep banging the changer everytime I put the bag in or take it out. But, I guess I don't have any other option, so I'll mount it like that.

CD Changef

See if it will fit under the passenger seat. That is where I put mine in the Camry. You have to change it from the rear seat, but it will probably never get stolen and it is in wasted space. I had it under the rear deck like in the picture too, but it kept getting hit when I put things in the car, then the sub box wouldn't fit, so under the seat it went. Otherwise, mount it vertical against the side of the trunk, screwed into the floor. Just shoot the self-tapping screws in there.

Diddo on mounting under the passenger seat - if it's not too tall. Plus you can change cartridges from the driver seat. I have a six disk that fits there just fine. I didn't have to drill either - just secure it with a little wire into the carpet looped around mounting bolts.

You might want to do a search, or PM TimW and ask him for a pic of how the OEM one is mounted. I mounted it the same way as he did. It's kinda out of the way which you want, and since it's black, it's even hard to see when you open the trunk.

sorry bout that last post...

well, it appears you are running a pioneer changer, correct? If this is so, you could try the setup I am currently running...the pioneer head unit with the six disk, in dash cd changer...I love this setup and it looks real good...I'll try to get out and take some pics tonight when I get my car back...The in dash cd changer costs around 300 now and is awesome...Haven't had a problem with it.
