Battery Change

Hey there everyone, I guess I'm going to have to change my battery again, I will have to buy a new one, I want to ask you guys for any suggestions, what specs should i look at! And at the same time, I was thinking about changing my spark plugs and wiring to help with lacky ignition of the car!

What exactly are you going for? Deep cycle? Gel cell?

Personally, I've just gone for the highest CCA rating available in my group size, in a good old acid-filled.

I've used Red and Blue top Optimas before, they're pretty nice batteries. There's a gel cell DieHard battery (or at least there was, there were recalls and I'm not sure if they still sell them). I've had POS brand store batteries last years with infrequent use, and I've had regular DieHards crap out after a month.

What do you mean 'lacky' ignition?

I have a YellowTop D75/25. I just received this last Thursday, and if you are looking for any Optima Battery, I suggest this place: www.1st-optima-batteries.com.

This is the cheapest site I've found after looking for 2 days. Free shipping over $100.00 and no tax. My YellowTop would have easily been well over $200.00 locally, and I bought it for $172.00 shipped from here.

Battery

I've been running high CCA marine batteries for years in my work vehicles. I would measure the battery you are replacing and go down to the local boat yard and take a look. They upside is that they are much better build b/c they have to withstand much more abuse (vibration/corrosion). I don't know if you have a show car or what, but if you want a good battery at a fair price, that's what I do. Just my 2C.

I would just go for the highest cca battery in you class like mentioned above, unless you want to spend the dough on the optima batteries they are very nice.

My stock battery lasted eight years including one year in a NY winter. It finally went recently and I bought one for about $65 from walmart. The thing now starts on a dime even in temps well below freezing. I know there are better batteries, but still...

Optima's aren't what they used to be, they are a waist of money IMO. I think quality control on them went to crap or something.

The Autozone Gold batteries (which seems to be the only good product they have) are really good. I got nearly 5 years out of one here in Texas where other batteries usually last about 3. Even better, it had a total 8 year warranty so with the prorated value left, I got about 35% off the replacement. The Gold has the highest CCA and reserve of the batteries they sell.

The one in my Mazda had enough juice that I was able to drive 32 miles home after my crank pulley blew apart, leaving nothing to turn the alternator belt. Turned the radio, a/c, etc off but I was able to drive 32 miles home and the battery still had 11 volts and the car still started.

I agree, I have the same battery. Its not very expensive, looks kind of like an optima battery and performs well.
