ABS Light and Flashing SET (Cruise Control) Light
ABS Light and Flashing SET (Cruise Control) Light
So a few weeks ago my ABS light comes on and predictably the ABS no longer works. After a day or two the light goes out. It comes back a week later, gone for another week.
This morning the SET light (green, Cruise Control) starts flashing (~2 flashes per second) and 2-3-4 minutes later the ABS light comes on again. Cruise doesn't work, ABS doesn't work, understandably.
The ABS light seems to only came on when it was wet (snow / rain) out. Once it dries out the light goes out This morning it was raining.
Over the summer I had to remove the passenger side under-engine plastic shield (protecting the underside of the engine / engine bay). I am guessing that that may have opened up some 'delicate' parts to abuse.
I am guessing there is an ABS sensor that has an open wire somewhere and the damp/wet condition is causing a short. Does the cruise control rely on the ABS sensor for anything (e.g. as a speed sensor)?
Has anyone seen this before? If so where would the ABS sensor cable tend to crack?
TIA

Make sure the connectors are clean and check the wire just at the top of the connector for abnormal flexing.
I also have a similar problem.I have a 96 GLE, my ABS light came on and stays on.When I depress the brake pedal the parking lights come on (weird). Now my Cruise light flashes and doesnt work when the lights are on, but works fine when the lights are off.
