Need help ASAP on clearing headlights!!!!

Alright I have the headlight out of the car and I have taken all of the bulbs out but I have a question. There is still some wires that will not come out of the headlight. Now I want to put the headlight in the oven but I am afraid that it will melt them and then my headlight will not work anymore. Also the little fuse box looking thing that says high voltage that plugs into the HID bulb is still hooked on there by a wire, is it safe to put these in the oven Any help would be appreciated thanks.

remove the ballast...leave the wires.

wrap the whole assembly in a wet towel before you put it in the oven.

+1 200 for about 15 mins and prepare to get a little messy. It is worth it though.

Thanks for the help guys...I already had put them in the oven before any of you guys chimed in and everything went smooth...I will post some pics up later tonight. Also what's with the wet towel thing? And to NmexMax I have already read that how-to but it doesn't say anything about the wires so I didn't know. But thanks guys I appreciate the help.

I read the How - To and saw that it didn't really clearly state the answer, and added the smiley because well.....

Where do you buy the clamping tools to reapply the headlight back together..?

Also when you say use a wet towel do you mean to have the headlight rest ontop of the wet towel or to cover the whole headlight with the wet towel?

Does the headlight come apart after it is in the oven for the first time (does this loosen it?) What kind of pressure is applied to release the headlight from the casing?

Also the second time you put the headlight in the oven and take it out you have to make sure and clamp it tight for how long?

When putting it back in the oven what does that do... tighten the headlight back together better?

I just dont want to do this mod without every step...also where can you get the halo rings that look like the bmw? Has anyone also haloed the turn bulb and the one above it?

Thanks alot guys

Clamping tools = refer to the link I provided and find some vice grips. It works ('sticks/glues') with a heat activated adhesive. Get it hot, and the viscosity lowers, this will allow you to open/close with ease. Cool it off, and it's back to being hard so it can act as an adhesive.

Why don't you study houscors site a little more, the answer to your halo question is in there, as well as a detailed write-up.

I used my hands w/ towel not to get burnt

Also when you say use a wet towel do you mean to have the headlight rest ontop of the wet towel or to cover the whole headlight with the wet towel?

didn't use a wet towel, except one for the headlight to rest on

Does the headlight come apart after it is in the oven for the first time (does this loosen it?) What kind of pressure is applied to release the headlight from the casing?

loosens up the glue alot ( or whatever it is ) then you just yank it out pulling a little by little each pull, i had to pull with moderate pressure, but i also did it slowly so i wouldnt mess anything up, but don't take forever either, because it was drying on me pretty fast

Also the second time you put the headlight in the oven and take it out you have to make sure and clamp it tight for how long?

the glue dries fairly quickly, heat it up and make sure every part around the headlight is tight, and from what i remember i think there are clips too so make sure all those are "clicked in"

When putting it back in the oven what does that do... tighten the headlight back together better?

loosens up the glue ? so you can put it back together i guess, you have no chance of putting it together once its dry without breaking something

I just dont want to do this mod without every step...also where can you get the halo rings that look like the bmw? Has anyone also haloed the turn bulb and the one above it?

search!!!!!!!!!

Thanks alot guys

I know this was already answered but... My $0.02...

It is waaaayyyy easier than it looks/sounds. Just try it... It is virtually fool proof. The hardest part is getting the new clear lens to fit properly...
