Bad Clutch?? or NO?

okay i have about 104k miles on the 2k3. the clutch has been slipping a while and has gotten worse. Last week as i was approaching home, I turned and after i went from 1st to 2nd gear it kinda didnt catch as if it fell outta place. meaning I cant put it in ANY gear, it just goes up and down now. so i coast to the house and let it die out. The car starts, but when i let off the clutch it jumps as if its in gear. Is my clutch gone out? or is this a tranny problem as one of my friends tell me. the others say its the clutch, but I'd like a 5th genners experience. Help?? btw i've ordered a stage 1 exedy.

I would check to see if the shifter linkages are secure. I just had those off Saturday, and the lower one has a weird clip securing it that is like a paper clip in the shape of an "M". I don't know which (the lower or upper) controls 1st and 2nd, but I would look at that.

Also, when was the last time you changed the gear oil?

So i took the car in today to have it checked out and it happend to be the cable bracket that broke in half. I'm like HOly.... so he said he was gonna go ahead and put on the clutch since I had it there. So it just needs that shifter bracket so the mechanic's gonna search for one and have me rollin by tomorrow or friday

I've head of thoes brackets braking before. Tell your mechanic he can expand his search by including the bracket from a 6th gen car. Those are redesigned and stronger. I'm using one in my car right now. Its a direct swap.

Sometimes if the clutch is completely toast even with it pushed in it will engage whatever gear you are in. Seems like the bracket was really causing this condition for you though, glad you figured it out! Let us know how the new clutch feels.

So now that the bracket back on, the mechanic said that they didnt send the bearing for the Exedy stage 1 clutch. so im like what!?!? Does anybody in here have the exedy stage 1 on 5.5gens only? and if so did it come from importcarparts in group deals? i want to know if this bearing is gonna work because im holdin him up now waiting 2 extra days for this dam bearing now.

If a clutch goes out, or you're having clutch hydraulic problems (slave or master cyl), you will have trouble shifting when the engine is running.
