Wheel spacer/wheel base question

I have read about a hundred wheel spacer threads and havent found the answer to my question.....

The rear wheels of our cars (stock) are tucked under the fender more than the front wheels. Is this because the rear wheelbase is narrower than the front wheelbase, or because the rear fenders are wider than the front fenders?

I would assume its the fenders because I would think that the front and rear wheels drive on the same line, but could someone confirm this?

Thanks.

yes.....from what I have read, anything bigger than a 5mm spacer will need longer studs.

Any answers to the original question in this thread?

Thanks.

Bejay1 told me a long time ago that front track width is .7" to .8" wider than the rear for stock A32/A33s. FWIW.

It depends on which spacer you get. Not all come with longer studs, quality units do though.

Also, I tossed a and found this: http://www.internetautoguide.com/car...ima/index.html

According to that site (not as credible as a Nissan site, but hey, limited time to search here) wheel base F/R is the same. But I agree, 4th, 5th, & 6th gens have this problem ( rears sit in a little)

I just found these sites that confirm Puppetmasters post of .7"-.8" wider in the front.....

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/sp...xima&trimid=-1

http://www.nissanhelp.com/Models/200...ifications.htm

So to get them in the same track for my SE (.7"), i would need an 9mm spacer each side (18mm total) to get them in the same line.

However, as NmexMAX found, i found another site as well that said they are the same track width.....so maybe I will have to get out my measuring tape this weekend and find out for myself.

So you were able to even out the 0.7" difference w/ your 5mm and 15mm F/R spacers? I thought 10mm = 0.4"

yes....he has 15mm in the rear and 5mm in front. So he is gaining 10mm on each side in the rear which is approximately 2 x .4" = .8".
