Cool Light

I keep seeing blue lights installed on cars like BMWs and Audis..... I was wondering if there are any available for 2k1 max? I am tempted to buy the halogen but apparently i read that it is illegal and also dangerous. I chanced upon Xenon blue and was wondering if it is safe?My owner's manual says use only 60/55 watts but apparently the xenon have 100/80 watts. So what do you guys think? Should I go ahead and change it?

First off the lights you see on BMWs and AUDIs are called "HID Xenon" lights. They are not HALOGEN. Halogen bulbs consist of a filament like a normal light bulb but slightly different.

A HID bulb uses a ballast like a tube light. The bulb has no filament and actually has a capusule of XENON gas between two "wires", we'll call it that to understand easier, and the current actually jumps the "gap" and lights up the capsule of gas. This requires about 20,000 volts intially but then comes down to about a steady 90v and only uses 35watts.

A "HID Look" Xenon bulb is nothing but a stock bulb type coated with a blue color and Xenon Gas inside the bulb to make the light come out almost like the color that a HID bulb gives. The higher wattages wont hurt the Maxima, I had a 100/130 watt H4 in my headlights and I never burned the wiring or the socket.

By the way the HID system costs about anywheres from $350-1100 depending on brands and types.

Based on what you told me, is the HID look Xenon buld as bright as the origional bulb installed in a max? I have read reports that many manufacturers just filters blue out of the bulbs and that cause the brightness of the light to be affected. My main concern is about warrenty because my car is brand new....hehee

They dont usually use filters, it is just a coating on the bulb and the gas inside. It sort of gives that nice HID like color. You will not have any issues with warranty or anything.

Only issue you will have is when your inspection comes around, if you have to get one done every year, (luckily I live in MD which only requires you to get it when you register the car) they will have a issue with it and MIGHT not pass it. No biggie, remove the bulbs before you go to inspection.

if you get something like Piaa... yes it's brighter, due to a higher output and better mixture of gas. but you have to understand that with those light.. you arn't going to see **** in the rain... in my opion, they are not worth it... save up the move and get HID... and there is no warrenty issue, cuz with our light, it's just plug and play.. so if it burn out, you can just plug your old one back in..
