'00 fed spec O2 sensor help! **pics**

Searched a bit, but couldn't find any specifics.

Got a P0153 (sensor 1 bank 2) and P0133 (sensor 1 bank 1).

For the fed spec's there are only 3 sensors and these are the 2 before the cat.

The first one I can't get room for my ratchet to turn in there.



Here's what I'm using.


I got my sensors from oxygensensors.com and theyre the Walker brand ones.

They called for the same sensor for both.


This is so frustrating. Plus I'm exhausted right now.

You replacing the downstream, too? P0133 and P0153 are both upstreams.

You need to replace both sensors closest to the engine. A 7/8 inch wrench should remove the O2 sensor, careful not to round it and you may have to heat the base of the sensor and y-pipe.

No, I'm replacing both up streams. I've replaced the downstream (after cat) one before, but the up stream ones have never been replaced since I've owned the car.


EDIT: it turns out both sensors DO have 3 wires. I just couldn't see the black wire on the one from where I was looking. I got that one out and I'm going to splice the wires. The first one is still stuck.

Ah, gotcha. The 'further downstream' comment threw me.

As nlmaxima said, either a 22mm or 7/8" wrench should help you in there. If you're going to rewire anyway, you could cut the harness connector off and use the box end of the wrench. That way you won't be as likely to round off the flats on the sensor.

I Would recommend. alot of PB Blaster. A 7/8 wrench works or a 22mm, I recommend you use a larger ratchet. Good luck.

Well 2 hours later, and nothing. The one further downstream that I got out, didn't have much slack in the wire, so i wouldn't have room to strip and splice since it's kinda up there. I tried to disconnect the whole sensor, but they've got those little snap in zip tie connectors that are impossible to get off. I gave up and put it back in.

I'll buy a 22mm open end wrench and try the front sensor next time.

The neg battery terminal was disconnected the whole time, so maybe the SES light won't come back on and i won't have to change them! :fingerscrossed:

for the one you are removing...remember, you are removing it....cut the wire and the plastic connectors with small wire cutters...get all that out of the way, and its easier

the wires are tied down up under the car and I couldn't get to the connector in the engine bay. Argh! I was going to cut the wires, but then I figured i wouldn't be able to strip and splice the wires since they were recessed up there. Not much room to get the stripper and crimper up there.

On how much and where did you get it... I just got a P0141 - Rear O2 Sensor Heater (Bank 1) code on a fed. spec, trying to figure out what Im going do to replace it or at least solve the code. Which 02 does this correspond to?

So where is bank 1 sensor 2 on the fed spec models ? i dont have the on on the bottom like it shows in the pic sooner posted. and there $104 at advanced auto

^x2 i looked at soonerfan's sig..its a cali spec..i figured it was the same, but i'm not sure if its the same for fed spec

rear bank on the y-pipe...between where the y-pipe meets the exhaust manifold and the precat

On a 2000 Fed the #2 sensor is after the main cat. So Bank 1 Sensor 2 is after the main Cat and before the B-Pipe.

grrrrrrrrrr the one i got is a 3 wire.... it looks like a 4 wire in that pic, the pdf link is not working Sooner.

Part is a bosch 13350
