BlehmCo 300zx Big Brake Kit... Anybody done the front and rear???
I was checking out Matt Blehm's website and have been wanting to do his BB conversion with the 300zx calipers and was wondering if anybody had done it and what they thought about it. Also, since he has the setup for the rear brake conversion as well, I was wondering if anybody has gone so far as to do that as well. I found the entire setup of 300zx calipers (front and rear - nearly mint condition) for a pretty reasonable price and I'm thinking about making that move.
Any thoughts/blessings/warnings/gripes/concerns would be greatly appreciated!

here's a warning - you're about to get flamed worse than a serial arsonist's ex-girlfriend's house
long story short - there are no options for rear bbk's at the moment, and matt says he would need at least 10 people signed up in order to undertake the project. (count me as one)

Hey guys, here's a heads up:
Matt Blehm has a group buy for 5th gen REAR bbk kits.
I just stumbled across it by chance. Can't believe nobody has mentioned it! This is basically the best/only way to get a rear bbk that retains the e-brake mechanism. There have been numerous threads about it. He's got 9 out of 10 people right now, so go check it out..

Which front rotors were you planning on using the 300ZX TT 11.0"x1.25" or the 12.6"x1.1"? I thought it was rather nice setup, I just didn't like the adapters and all the freaking bolts and nuts, with no safety provisions!

Hi Pit5Bull,
I do have both front and rear Blehmco 300zx BBK. I had them for 2.5yrs now, since the time when Matt first came out with the kit. When I ordered the front, I got Matt's upgrade option for a 2pc rotor. I notice now, he doesn't advertise that option for the front. As for the rear, I am using the same kit that is being advertised on Matt's website. All my calipers are Aluminum with the 30mm Fronts.
Installing the front is straight forward with his mounting bracket. The rear on the other hand takes more time. Quick overview is:
1. Remove cat-back exhaust from car.
2. Remove old e-brake cable, calipers, and rotors.
3. Install new e-brake cable.
4. Install new mounting kit on rear axles. This requires lots of time and patience. Measuring, drilling, and filing are involved.
5. Mount new rear rotors and calipers.
6. Adjust e-brake tension and verify all hardware for any rubbing or misalignment.
7. Re-install cat-back exhaust.
8. Road test new BBK.
Overall performance of Blehmco BBK, I love them. Stops are shorter and firm at the pedal. No more brake judders at the steering wheel from warped rotors. Then again, I do have Matt’s 2pc design. Thus, I don’t know how the OEM 12.6” 2004 Maxima rotors will perform. Great prices, great performance, and a great person, Matt, to deal with.

Thanks Guys!!!
We learn something new all the time...
Now where's that flamethrower??? LOL?
Somebody's glad I asked the question, now that there's actually an answer to it...
@Omegasrk - thanks for the comments... glad someone here has first hand experience with this kit. I was going to go with the 12.6" kit (2004 discs, if I'm not mistaken) with the aluminum 300zx N/A 4-pistons. I actually found someone selling both the front and the rear calipers, so I was curious if anybody did it and how they liked it before I put in the time, effort and $$$.
All of you (with or without flamethowers) ROCK!!!![BowDown](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
LONG LIVE THE .ORG!!!

VIPERVADIM from nycmaximas.org had the full front and back calipers/rotors and MASTER cylinder from 300zx swapped in.. search tehere.. only his car was a 4th gen..
ALso if anybody is a machinist and can make brackets.. it would be sweet if you can make a braket to align this willwood caliper to the stock rotor or which ever rotor you think of... as our calipers int eh rear have a habbit of locking up and going bad often

Shoot me an email with what you're having a problem with and I'll do what I can to help you out.
BTW.. Did you buy reman calipers or are they pulls straight off a Z somewhere?
I've found with several of the reman calipers that the mounting tabs are bent. I've had to take about 5 of them back in the last couple years.
As for the stuff up top..... I'm STILL trying to find a machinist that will do the CNC brackets for the rear kit for a decent price. Next batch of stuff to make them is looking to cost me over $5k just for 20 of the CNC pieces, INSANE.
I still sell the 2-pc rotors, but I have never updated the website to include them from when I initially made them. The site is due for a major revision, I just haven't had time to do anything about it.
Edit..... Are you the Alexander that just emailed me? If so, I sent a reply. You have the bracket bolted onto the car backwards and upside down.
