A/C Squeaky when Turn On.
A/C Squeaky when Turn On.
I bought my new max a few months ago and noticed that when i turn the A/C on that noise comes from seems like the belts. The car has a UDP installed.
- No Noise with A/C Off at Idle
- Noise at Idle with A/C ON (Squeaky noise)
- A/C works fine, Blows cold like it suppose to
- Car Runs kinda slow with the A/C On (I believe this is normal.)
Now would the UDP have anything to do with this? It was installed before I purchased the car so I have no idea if the belts were replaced properly or if it was tightend properly. I really don't wanna mess with it if the symptoms are unrelated.
I didnt think it's my A/C Compressor since it sounds like a squeaky belt plus the fact that the A/C Blows cold. But I'm almost positive it has somthing to do with the AC since its only a problem when I turn it on.
Any Ideas?

Mine does the same thing. Belts would be the likely culprit. It's probably the best place to start, anyway - also the cheapest. Check to see if the belts have cracks in them. Have they ever been replaced on your car?
it's likely your belt has stretched. Mine did this shortly after I bought the car. Unfortunately, the asshat that put the belt on overtightened the tentioner pulley and now I'm going to have to cut the bastard off.
A workaround for you would be to not use the A/C until the car is warmed up then switch it on. If it's still squealing you will have to adjust the tentioner pulley. That is done by either going in from the top or removing the lower fenderwell cover (Have the wheels cocked all the way to the right for this) and loosen the nut on the tentioner pulley then tighten the adjusting screw from the top. Once the correct adjustment has been met tighten the pulley nut.
If the tentioner pulley is bottomed out on the adjustment you will need to go to a slightly shorter belt. Talk to your local (Not chain) auto part store about obtaining a slightly shorter belt.

Tighten the belt tensioner then go from there
He has an aftermarket underdrive pulley that is lighter and smaller in diamater, thus more slack in belt. A chain autoparts store can help you get a smaller one if you talk to the right guy (I would have).

Well, mine has a small squeaking sound that I know is the compressor clutch bearing and It's really not noticeabe unless you ride next to a concrete wall or the curb and hear a slight sound reflection! I've been running an UR Udp for over 3yrs and I don't think the problem is related nor are my belts slipping!
The UDP was installed by Nissan with the correct size belts... I was told the noise was normal for the UDP... So I just ignored it... I dont remember it squeeking though... I thought it was more of a vibration sound...
Whats up Ben! How have you been? Yea my buddy said it shouldnt squeak that loud. I looked at the belts and they dont appear to be bad. I cant really tell if it has been stretched. So I wonder if the tensioner is the problem. I cant hear it when i drive but I would like to fix it if it's somthin I can fix. My freind said he can get a mechanic at work to take a look at it for me so I guess I'll really find out when go. I fixed the vibration when i did the intake spacers and did some relearning procedures at least it hasnt did it since then.
