HID bulb info...

I got the 2k2 headlights now...but I need to know what the deal is w/the bulbs for them! I had no idea they were so expensive!!! $500, $600, $700 is crazy!!! Anyone got deals? I want to have that purpleish, bluish look and I also want my fogs to match the headlights as closely as possible!!! What the best way to approach this...can I have the prices on the best bulbs? Oh yea and...I already did a search...as soon as someone starts to get serious about the subject, it tails off into something completely different...thats why I'm posting this...so...NO YOU go do a search!!! Thanx in advance fellas...

Well the bulbs alone are about $250 a pair. If you want the new Blueish Purpleish look, you basically want a pair of the new 6000k bulbs. All normal HID kits come with 4300k bulbs. Now the 6000k gives that blueish look like bmw's and audis.

Now the best way to do a match with the fog is do what hogan did and put a set of HIDs in there. But that is gonna cost about $400 for a HID kit on that. Now most people recommed these Raybrig White Thunder bulbs or PIAA Extreme white H3 bulbs for the fogs. I dont believe in spending $80+ for a pair of bulbs that might blow out in 3weeks. I am about to jam a H4 bulb in my Fog light assembly, hogan told me there is a way.

I know this topic has been beaten to death but I just got my 2k2 HID's and I'm excited what can I tell you?!? Thank you sir for responding! I need advice! So...for those 6000k lights, what are we talking about? $600, $700? Putting H4's in the Fogs sounds like the best idea too...tell Hogan to post how he did that in the sticky section man...I'm sure everybody would want to know about that one! Thanx...

Dave B. says the 2K2 HID bulbs are $147 EACH!

The reason why? They last for a VERY VERY long time. PIAAs are very sensitive/fragile, but are GREAT bulbs compared to halogens. However, if you have to buy a couple pairs you start to think REAL HIDs are worth the $450 Hogan sells them for. The INCREASED output and color are sweeeeeeeeeet.

i actually have a way to solve the problem
there are caps that you can put over the hid bulb and they will look the same as the bmw s, audi s.....
and i found out why the other cars have blueish and purplish lights
because they have xenon gas in the headlight
like bm and audi, they have projectors which hold xenon, but we only have the hid bulb....
but still good enough for me....

Actually it is just the projector on the bmws and audis that produce that color. That color can be produced by a prism, it is all about filtering that color of light with glass.

I just got in touch with an old HS friend of mine and found out that he works for Philips. We got into HID talk and he told me that Philips' cost for HID bulbs is $30.00!!! Talk about profit.

As for the EZ write up, I'll post up today.

-Peace

You know what? I actually didn't ask him that. So yeah, that would make sense what you said.

Hmmmm...sounds like a more inexpensive solution! Where do you get the caps from and how much do they run for? Can anyone else confirms if this works. I still want to get that xenon-gas mercedes, bmw look. Holla back
