Guidance on how to open the steering wheel on 03 maxima
So my steering wheel gives a clunking/clicking sound when turning at certain point. It almost seems as if there is something that is hindering the wheel at that particular point in turning.
Oh, and the paint/dash color on the wheel, right above the nissan logo is kinda peeling off. I will upload the picture of that soon. The steering wheel also rubs against the plastic below.
Can someone point me on how to open the wheel ???? Thanks

that being said, I do know there is an airbag on top, but how difficult that makes it, thats what i am here for. If its tooo tooo difficult that a newbie like me SHOULD NOT even try, i wont.
Do i get an effort grade for asking ???

personally - i wouldn't mess with an airbag.
I'd give myself a c+ with mechanical skills -- maybe a B-....
I've heard you can avoid accidentally setting it off by disconnecting the battery -- but I'd want to be VERY certain how to deactivate that thing before i went digging around in there!
good luck med-boy!

This is by no means a complete post but you should always disconnect the batter for 1/2 hour before working on anything having to do with airbags. I would even disconnect it for longer to be sure that all the capacitors have had time to discharge.
Any yellow connector is an airbag connector, beware, and get an FSM.
