Serious NOS question

I just got an estimate for a NOS kit installed in my car. It would have an arm switch and a button under the pedel. This way the NOS only sprays when i am at WOT. It would have interchangeable nozzels for 35,55 or 75 shot and come with a 10 Lb bottle in the trunk. The guy told me 1300 bucks installed. Is this a good price? Is it really dangerous to NOS the maxima's engine? I know some of you have NOS, is it a reliable good mod worth 1300 bucks? Thanks in advance.

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

This guy is trying to rape you. The kit itself (unless you are using a venom kit) is only about 500, therefore you are paying 800 for installation. It would probably be cheaper for you to drive here to Mississippi and let me hook it up than to pay 800 for installation. Also nitrous is not that hard to hook-up. And yes the max engine will do just fine with a 35 or 55 shot all day long. Just my $.02!!

dont put the button under the pedal ZEX has a throttle position sensor that goes to the throttle body wires and connects to the pink one...... it only sprays when u r at WOT the wire sends out a certain current! and HELL NO 1300 is way too much....... i got my kit for 350 and 60 bucks to install... u can do the bottle mounting in the trunk your self and run the line under the car to the box in the engine bay which takes the most amount of time after that just get someone to wire it.... dont pay that much!

Yes

ZEX is a kit, it is a computer/solenoid controlled kit that is simple to install and works great. WILLSE and I both have the ZEX kit and I am sure that we could probably answer the majority of your questions about it or you could just call ZEX; they were very cooperative with me. You can get the kit just about anywhere. Just look in a sport compact car, turbo, or super street magazine and look at some ads. Or I think summit, Nopi, and other large stores carry it as well. Just whatever you do don't pay 1300 dollars for a nitrous kit.

You might want to read the big nos thread on either the 4th gen forum or the general forum. There is alot of nos info there.

Cool, i checked out www.ZEX.com. I read all about the kit and the spark plugs you should buy. Have you guys ever had any problems with your kit or engine? Does this really mess up the life on the engine? The only reason i am asking so many questions is that i don't want to screw up my car. I really want the extra hp though. What shot are you guys running? How much quicker is your car? Sorry about all the questions. Thanks again.

It never hurts to ask questions about NOS.

1-if he told you a button goes under the gas pedal, he is a complete moron b/c the TPSS should be mounted under the hood and attached to the TB & linkage.

And the kit should come with a arming switch as is. If you want one of those fancy ones, it will set ya back about $10-$15.

Im not sure how much it should cost to intsall a kit. The install should be no more then $250. I installed mine and was very simple.

And as extras, i would get a FPSS (should be included), Window Switch, Bottle heater. The bottle blanket is just for looks (mainly to hide teh ugly looking bottle heater). If you hav ethe extra $$, get a purge kit.

NOS will only work @ WOT. It will not work when you are half way on the gas.

Also, if you want to run anything higher then a 60 shot, i would purchase a new fuel pump (Walbro).

My NOS is set up to spray from 3.4k rpms - 6k rpms.

I am currently running a dry 50 shot on my 99 auto. The 50 shto has shaved 1 full second off my time. With a CAI, VB Mod, & Y-pipe i ran 15.3@91mph. With the addition of the 50 shot i run consistent 14.3@97mph. I have upped to a 60 shot and gotten same results, i have yet to run a fater time & speed with a 60 shot.

I am now on a 100 shot but have yet to get new times (Accident).

Synki-- You were at the maxima meet. so that means you are not too far away from me. Is it possible i could drive to your location, pay you, and hve you put in my kit? You seem to know a lot about it, and the fact that you have NOS in your car makes me feel better, and not worry too much about wrecking my engine. THANKS SO MUCH!

This may be a DUMB question, but....

Everyone refers to a 50-shot/60-shot or whatever, but what does this mean exactly? 50/60 hp gain to the WHEELS or CRANK?

How much can I gain to the wheels SAFELY using a ZEX kit?

Where/How did you tap the intake for the nozzle?

Thanks.

Be careful about buying the Walboro fuel pump. I don't believe it has been "5th gen tested" yet, but do let us know if it works or not.

If possible i don't want to have to change the fuel pump. Kev, what do you think/have heard about the ZEX kit? Synki, what do you think about making a little extra $$ and hooking it up for me? Thanks

What kit do you have? How many miles do you have on your car? How many miles have you had NOS? Any problems?

I personally like NOS better just b/c it majority of the peope use it and are more familiar with it. ZEX is new and im not sure how reliable it is. The kits are about the same price.

BTW-I am in morristown.

The NOS kit is a PITA to install, for ease of install i would reccomend the ZEX kit. The ZEX comes with more stuff to prevent nitrous accidents like, spraying too soon, spraying to the rev limiter, etc. Its no danger to the engine as long as u stay under 70shot, until u get a stronger fuel pump. if u have auto, really try not to overuse it, and ive actually broken my motor mount bc of the nitrous but its ok...i get polyurethane ones comin
