that clutch is badass
Yea, the clutch is pretty bad *** but not functioning properly... If this was not my 10th time taking my transmission out I prob would try to get the clutch / flywheel to work but I am sick and tired of my drive train so I am getting my fidanza flywheel worked on and throwing a new clutch in the car...

Technically yes, my car runs with the Cusco Twin Disc Carbon Clutch in it, as I drove to VA and back this weekend, but it is not worth my time nor effort, was a cool idea, and can be done, just not by me, right now

If u were doing everything over again, would you use the same clutch? I'm also getting a new tranny soon, will need a clutch as well and some suggested to just go OEM (i'd like to find something with a shorter clutch throw).I've been putting some thought into the flywheel and udp, but can't really justify it b/c i'm not too keen on putting extra cash into the car, especially for performance (which is like a forbidden word now in ontario)

Thread is a little old but I just did the same tranny swap. With the short shifter from watkins in there the shifts are relly freaking knotchy, I'm hoping this will get better as the tranny gets worked in. When I first got into the car it didn't want to go in reverse. Just wondering if you had the same problem merlyn?
Running fidanza flywheel and exedy stage 1, there is a little chatter in first, gearing up is ok, gearing down there is chatter also. I hope this is going to get better also. there is only 150km on the clutch so far.

Holy Fawk that's quite a jump with the just the FD change. I'll bet with the raised rev limit as nismology was stating, this would be an ideal setup.

I still don't see the point of a higher rev limit when there is no power up there

supercharger anyone?

knight yyz did you try some solenoid gear lube. I remember this made shifts to my stock 03 tranny 100% better. I could be way off though.

I have (and will have more) the components to back it up. Most people running stock with bolt-ons will not see power up there.

i'm running motul in the gear box. I lubed up the parts I could with synthetic grease. I had a hard time shifting when it was first installed, but I love it now. Shifts are very smooth and I was able to keep my watkins sts in there.

that's my point, unless the IM is gutted and/or you are cammed the power curve does not justify a higher rev limit.

I thought it was implied that the powerband would dictate how high the redline would be. That goes without saying. Either way, making power past the stock redline has been done and isn't terribly hard. My motor and deckout's definitely will...

Fail.

This thread is about a manual, not an automatic (re: your first post)

And would it bolt up? Sure.

Would it work? Nope.

Im piecing together a auto to manual swap for my i30. Would vq35 trannys bolt up? If not should I get a 5th gen 5 speed or 6speed anniversary edition trans? I got a quote from nissan for 2200 on 5speed with LSD.

i'd be careful with the fly wheel, it might be "burnt" it may need re-machining depending on condition. When I did mine I bought the fidanza, turns out I would have had to re-machine the old one.
