Replacement keys

So I was looking at my car key and compared it to the keys of my parents saturn vue and old mercedes. Mercedes made the key and remote in one piece already in 1990, with the foldable blade, so that you can stick it in your pocket easier. Would it be theoretically possible to fit our keys into a much newer housing? Obviously that would only be for aesthetics, but I mean when modding the car, why not start with the key?

you haven't got nissan's genious.
I like nissan's seperated key and remote because I can start your car with the key and lock it with the ***, which is very convenient in winter if I wan't to warm up your car.

just wanted to know if it can be done, and our keys are pretty damn ugly aaaaand mine is all scratched up.

Am I wrong in the assumption that you believe most aesthetic mods are ?

its actually not that hard to do, just have to make a hole in the housing for the chip (transponder) and make sure it is alighned properly, the rest is just a matter of cutting the key for your car and swapping the internat guts of the remotes and making them fit right. I never had the interest with the flip keys, but i do want the smart keys from nissan, that would be nice, i just don't have the time to mess with it at the time, but i'm sure it can be done.

wow that's cool...i've never seen that before. I'd consider getting one if it didn't have 20th written on it..I need to get a new key anyway so thought I'd ask if it was the same..
