How can i be sure of what motor i have in my "5th Gen"?

sounds like a retarded question because the vq-30de-k is supposed to be in the 00-01 maximas, i know and am well aware, but this is why i'm skeptical if i have the 'official' vq30de-k or the vq30de...

1. The Manufacturer date on my car is 7/99

2. The plate under the hood states that i have a vq30de

now, were the very first batches of 2000 model maxima's installed w/ the 4th gen motors?

i put it to the test with my brothers old air intake neither would the MAF adapter work nor the piping from the TB to the maf work because of the differing size of the holes for the hoses that would connect to the pipe, so that tells me that, supposedly, i have the vq30de-k, but the plate and the manufacturer date on my car throw me off on whether i have the official 222hp motor or the 4th gen motor....

any insight would be appreciated, thanks.

5th gen bodystyle = 5th gen 3.0 = vq30de-k. whether your plate likes it or not

Unless someone swapped a DE into your engine bay, which is horribly unlikely, you have a DEK.

Every A33 has one, unles swapped, and no, early 2k's did not come with the A32DE.

Check the engine block if you're that paranoid, or check the Im color.

I know, we can have him crack the engine open and take measurement of the exhaust cam & intake cam duration after he's verified via IR that the intake manifold is indeed composite plastic, like it should be.

If some went through that much trouble, I would shoot them myself.
