Dont seem to be a starte issue, it cranks and cranks and finally starts maybe after 4 to 5 times, sometimes it fires right up. No codes either. No Vacuum leaks, normally when you turn the key to start the car you can hear the fuel pump prime, I dont hear that all the time anymore, ive checked all the fuses and relays, they seem fine.

Have you attached a code reader to see if there are pending codes?

I would start by checking the fuel pump or filter... and see how it goes after.

good luck;

No pending codes, fuel filter is built into the fuel pump. havent checked that.

Have you tried resetting the computer? Could be a glitch in data. I just replaced all 4 sensors too, and she runs like a dream, but I noticed some slow starting, too. I am thinking that it is a dying battery or alternator.

It does, consequently the 15 minute rule doesn't apply to the A33.

Step on and hold down the brake pedal, then turn on the headlights with the battery disconnected, that should completely discharge the system.

Usually, either the fuel pump works or it doesn't. With a bad fuel pump, usually the car will start just fine but die as soon as you give it gas. I learned that the hard way when the fuel pump went out on a Celica I had. Just driving along and suddenly, no power. Pulled over, started the car and as soon as I'd start driving, it would die. I think I managed to make it up to 5 mph, just enough to get down my street and home. Any throttle beyond just cracking it open a hair, and my car would die.

Professor,

I suspect it is probably your fuel pump. I changed out that internal filter about a month or so ago and ever since then I get the same issue. I did drop the fuel pump on the ground from about 3 feet up. Everything else went well with the install so I'm thinking I fubared the fuel pump.

I'm just not feeling it to replace the pump right now though. Going to wait and while and see if it finally goes out.

The way I get around the hard starting is to just turn the key to "ON" and wait a couple seconds. Then it fires right up every single time.

Hope this helps.

I would go with something fuel related, but double check what kind of mileage you've been getting for the past couple of days. If anything, it almost sounds like an alternator going bad to me. I had the same issue one day, and the next I was stuck in a parking lot looking for a jump to, at least, get home.

See what kind of voltage you're getting before you tap anything fuel related. Don't want to be touching anything that is working fine.

i highy doubt its the alternator,it cranks fine, useually when your first turn the key you can hear the fuel pump for a second or two, I dont hear it like i used to, i can hear the relay clicking when i turn the key but not the pump, but when i get it starting, it drives fine, even with new plugs, and O2 sensors and 92 octane fuel, i starting to get a slight ping back, at fisrt it was gone, now iam starting to get abit of pinging again.

That didn't work for my A33B. And the A33 ECU is horridly similar, so I don;t think that would work either.

I agree with foodmanry.

That sucks bro. Something must be fouling the sensors though they shouldnt go that fast defective batch? or to much unburnt fuel coming though the system fouling the sensors perhaps? Have you check the gap on the plugs?

I just put brand new NGK plugs in, gapped them to factory spec and torqued to spec, i dont know what is causing this.

have you checked your fuel pressure @ the rail? Is the fuel pressure maintaining it's fuel pressure afrter you turn the car is of/ Are you getting spark @ the plug?

I had a bad fuel pump and they do start to go out sometimes mines would strave the motor for gas and then all of a sudden start working fine caused me to brake a few motor mounts.

Iam going to the Junkyard to get a pump and see if that help, there is a 01 maxima se there , the front clip is gone, but the rest of the car is there, i hooked a 9volt to the gauge and it has only 62k miles, time to rape out the fuel pump and see if that solves my lean condition.

PS: I'll keep in touch.

I hope its not the MAF, i though when they go, they just stop working without warning, but a rebuilt one is $169 , so i might buy one

There's always www.car-part.com too.

well first and foremost they are NOT RAM chips...they are a type of ROM memory....more than likely EEPROM

RAM is volatile, ROM is NON-Volatile

EEPROM = Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory.....

Now its possible it can be SRAM or static RAM, but they usually get wiped the moment ALL electrical current is gone.....which would be alot less than any 15 minutes

you think it just expired due to starting cycles? Or you think there may be another related problem that cause your starter to fail?

I had same problem - 2k Maxima

My max at the time 53K was experiencing the same symptoms you are describing. In this case the parts at fault were the Fuel Pressure Regulators – Both were leaking, that is why the car could not start normally and most of the time I had to put my foot in the accelerator pedal while I turn it on. I replaced both and that problem was resolved for good.
