Replacing Fender / Matching Color from junkyard

I have a damaged fender on a Sterling Mist 00 Max. Anyone ever try to match a fender from a salvage yard and have the paint match? is it worth the effort or should I buy a new fender and have it painted?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Sure it can be done, if you get lucky. The problem won't be the paint match; it will be surprisingly close.

But the real problem will be finding an undamaged fender of the correct color AND to have it removed from the wreck without creating additional paint damage. Those salvage yard guys are a brutal sometimes. Even if it needs only a little paint, what have you saved?

Save yourself some headache and just get a good used one, then have it painted to match. Unless of course you can find perfect matched one already......

it will be very hard to find the right side and color, and in good cond. fender in a salvage yard. just get a good used one and paint it to match. new ones can get perty pricey and you still need to paint it

When I hit a deer I got one from a junkyard. You can't even tell it was different.

Yeah or you could check LKQ they carry alot of parts for our cars, of course they are all used but they are reasonably priced, ive bought many parts from them in the past and working on getting a rear pass caliper ATM from them, 50 bucks for a rear caliper isnt bad , considering they go for close to 200 new with a core charge, check them out

I had been checking autorecyclersofmass.com for parts over the past few months but couldn't find the correct color. This site has a search feature that gives a listing of all used parts by salvage yards.

I did find someone parting out a 00 SE last week after I posted this. I might get the hood, fenders and bumper cover so the paint on the front matches. Still trying to hook up with them and get a price.

Thanks for the suggestions.
