stinky cabin

so the inside of my car would not smell very good once i put the fan on. today i got the cabin filter out, it was filthyyyyy and smelt soo bad. cleaned it out, and washed it. hopefully it helps.

Lesson for those of you having anything similar to this, check out the cabin filter, it most likely is in bad shape.

Stupid question, but where under the dash is it? I am gonna be doing this tomorrow and don't feel like having to look for it...not that it would be hard to find...Is it under the dash on the driver side?

dont unplug the yellow plug, you'll get a airbag light.

if yours is still the paper one, I suggest you replacing it with the carbon one, which works very well.

when you turn off A/C, let it blow fresh air for a while then you'll be good

^ what he said.

I installed the filters in my 2001 easily. Rockauto.com has them cheap (the carbon impregnated ones).

Good advice posted above about running the system on ECON for a short while to dry out the inside of the HVAC system.

Also, Ozium (google it) is excellent at getting rid of the stink.

opened the one in my 2000 Max, there is a slot, it had no filter, went to the parts store and bought one for like $25 , it has the activated charcoal whatever also to help with odors, no one smokes in the car so thats a big +

An added benefit is the heating and cooling system will function much better. My AC felt much colder after i did this. Prob cause it was plugged shut. Goodluck
