Im a newbie my apologies...I just figured since most people lean back towards projector headlights mainly for the aggresive look of the angel eyez I'd bring up the halo's. You wouldnt sacrifice lighting and still get to have the angel eyes for the aggresive look.

Since most 5.5 Gen Maxima's already come with HID kits it just seem like a better choice...Cheaper too...

do the following - put the camera on the car's roof and set the camera to take a photo at standard exposure without flash and at a 10 second delay.

Do this for 10ft
25ft
and 100 ft

with the lights on the flattest whitest factory door you can find

Please email us any helpful hints you would like us to relay to other customers.

$60 shipped will take mine. ever since i bought this car in aug, i have been wanting to change the lights back to oem AE lights. dont get me wrong.. they look nice, but thats about it.

If i had 2 extra hands, i would give "angels eyes, Halos" 4 thumbs down!

I have a retro mod with TSX that I'll sell for $400 + shipping. They need some TLC but they are the real deal. It has a custom harness and should have all of the bulbs too if I can find them. It's been on a shelf in my garage for 2+ years.

I know I'm probably reviving a two year thread, but going through this thread, I'm guessing the conclusion was the the Umnitza Projector Headlights with the Angel Eyes are no good.

If that's the case, does anybody recommend any other headlights (i.e. whether projector or not) that have long-lasting and bright halos and that will have the same or better light ouput than the OEMs without the action of retrofitting?

Anything aftermarket available to us WILL have sub-par light output compared to stock. Bottom line. There is no way around a projector retrofit if you're looking for better light output.

I got a 03 GLE and i love the lights on it, i'd love to be able to get them crystal clear, but i also love the halo look on them, if you want them to look completely awesome, you do have to spend the moolah!

Sorry for bumping up this thread but this seems to basically be the main thread about these headlights, i bough these for $80 off a friend and want to install 55w 5k HIDs, should i be worried about to much heat from the 55w?

You can buff them, I used Caswell white & blue compound and and cotton wheel on a bench grinder, they came out really nice. Check the link: http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/plasticbuffkit.htm

For maintenance is used a liquid compound made by 3M if I'm not mistaking.

You can also wet sand them, it's a PITA to do but it work and it is cheap.

IMO, and most others, 55w is a waste of money and power. The added light output is normally so minimal it's pointless. It also increases heat, power consumption, and lowers the life of your HID bulbs.

Also, there is no such thing as aftermarket 5000k Bulbs, they're just RE-LABLED 4300k or 6000k.

So decide which of the two colours above you want and order that, that way you're getting what you want.

If you already have the 55w and insist on running them, gonuts, you shouldn't overheat the lens because most stock halogen bulbs run the same wattage. I'm not saying you WON'T, but by rights, it should be ok.

There are so many factors in this its ridiculous. If you run cheap 55 watt ballasts(most likely) and cheap bulbs you're temperatures are going to soar with 55 watt and you can say goodbye to your projector bowls. There aren't any OE bulbs in that size I bet so 55 is a no no.

What you should do is wait for a sale and take that money you were going to buy 55 watt hids with and go buy some projectors and ballasts from www.theretrofitsource.com. retrofit them in and have better output at 35 watts than you could ever dream of 55 watt in those lights.

Really? I didn't know that 5000k bulbs were non-existent.

I swapped my stock 4300k bulbs out for the 5000k ones HIDextra sells. They're quite a bit whiter, and output is actually better. But that may also play into the fact that the bulbs in my car were probably old and warn out.

I got my self ddm I know they are not the greatest but I know there the best bang for the buck, $90 for 35w 3k foglights and 55w 5k headlights is a steal so I'm sure I'll be happy. The headlights I baugh for $80 I'm sure I can sell for more if I'm not happy with it.

I appologize if I thread jack this but just want to clarify that you are selling 00-01 or 02-03 with TSX retro?

Thanks

That's a good point I didn't really think of the size if the housings are not meant for HID, I just assumed they were.

They DO exist, just not aftermarket, yet. OEM's are using a 5000k in some newer vehicles, but they're very rare, and only for projectors. No aftermarket makes them yet. Not worth a jump of 700k, no one will know the difference. Yeah you probably just upgraded to newer bulbs, I know for a fact that the HIDextra ones are relabled, probably got 4300k if they're white because the HIDextra 6000k are crazy blue (actually more like 8000k)

And if

And to everyone quoting and replying to old posts, FYI this thread is from 2008
