Just Got My H&R Springs!!!

This must be one of the best handeling mods out there. After I got it installed as soon as I saw a sharp curve I took it right away at full throttle =) Car didn't sway or move a bit. I noticed that my car doesn't bounce as much any more when I hit a slope in the road. It's a little more stiffer now. I kinda like that better though.. Does the ride get better or worse over time? I did keep my stock shocks on my GLE...

Your stock shocks will be fine for a month or two, then look out, they start heading downhill pretty fast. I still have the stock shocks on my SE with Eibachs, and it is a rough ride if I have anyone in the back seat. I would certainly recommend that you upgrade your shocks at some point in the not too distant future. But enjoy the springs, they do make a significant difference!
out.

Eibachs are a lot stiffer than H&Rs... I've been in a 5th gen with both. Your stock shocks should be good for a while.

As far as install time. It depends on your tools. The first time I did my springs it took nearly a full day... we had a lunch break, used all hand tools, had to hit the store for a new tool.. twice, etc. Second time (shocks) I was down to four hours with one less helper.

I should add its the first time I'd ever done springs on a car

Somebody probably already asked you this, but what made you move to the Eibachs from H&R? Most of these similar threads have made me lean towards Tokiko's with H&R's...just curious.

Oh.. I never had H&Rs... Timwumax had them. My car has eibachs.. hence, I've been in both.

H&Rs are good for mainly lowering. Eibachs better for performance. I went for the lowering direction.

As far as tokicos go, I bought kevs when he went to the coilovers.

Lemme know if you wanna see what the ride is like, we could always meet up and I could drive your car again

I'll take you up on that offer when I get to springs and shocks. New wheels and tires are my next change after I get my a$$ around to putting the RSB, which is sitting in my living room, on.

Lemme know if you want a hand with any of that. I've been itching to turn a wrench and haven't had extra money for mods... new tires sucked up my y-pipe fund

Well I did the install for all 4 springs in 3hrs. I could have done it in 2hrs if it was not for the 1hr of chilling with hand tools. If I had a air impact wrench, I would have saved alot of time on the compression of the spring compressors.

But still 3hrs aint bad.

After reassembling the front struts do you think you need a wheel alignment?

How much were your Maxspeed Springs? How big of a drop are they? How is the ride?

Here is the before pic

Here is the after pic

The ride is fine, almost like stock. Drop is very even both front and back.

Shock is a straight up shock that is separate from the springs. It is normally on american cars and some foriegn cars.

Coilover is a strut/spring combination that can be adjusted in height by turning the top plate.

Strut is same thing as a shock but it is where the "shock" goes in the middle of the spring. And on top of that a strut hold the springs in place.

Springs are the things that give the car the ability to bounce so that your whole car dont feel the bump.

Wow those get rid of a lot of that wheel gap. For $95, I might consider those in the future.

I think progress are lower... Those are 17in rims?.. You definately lose all wheel gap with progress. It's alittle bit more money though...

Yep.. Toylet has them but he has the stock 16s.. Still, almost no wheelgap.. I think he paid like a buck... And the ride is pretty close to stock.. It might also be b/c of the tokicos..

No I believe the Progress and these are about the same. I do recall Keving telling me that they were the same or the Maxspeed had a slight edge.

The guy who sold them to me said they dropped from 1.7" to 1.9"

Paul @ avaoln told me that they are STILL on back order. I ordered um in August! He said they are just now getting some B&G springs in but none for the Max yet, but they should be in soon, but I payed over $200 for um, so I might cancel um and get the Max Speed springs. I like um cause BigJohn says they are like a stock ride and because of the different drop in the front and back, I want it level. Why did Nissan make it lopsided anyway!
