Crankshift Positioning Sensor - Recall

Crankshift Positioning Sensor - Recall
I recently had my clutch changed, after the clutch swap my car threw a Service Engine Soon light, I have a OBD2 reader and the codes were Camshaft Positioning Actuator Banks 1 & 2.
After doing some research, that partciular piece is under recall... Mine never got replaced, therefore I'm going to get my swapped. Figured I'd post it up, and let everyone know.

Pulled directly from that website :
Recall Summary
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR OR CAM POSITION SENSOR MAY HAVE AN IMPROPER SOLDER JOINT DUE TO SOLDER DEFORMATION CAUSED BY HEAT STRESS ACCELERATED BY THE EXISTENCE OF FLUX RESIDUE DURING THE SOLDERING PROCESS.
Consequence
THIS COULD CAUSE THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON, CREATE A NO START CONDITION, CAUSE REDUCED ENGINE POWER, OR CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

If the work has never been done, the dealership shouldn't give you any problems about performing the work. In my case, the work had been done, so I had to pony up for the bank 1 sensor.

So never had a warranty when I bought the car.. and I get this code. The dealer should fix it with no questions asked, regardless (given it hasn't been done before)???

A recall will apply to any owner, regardless of warranty status.
If you guys have the problem, i suggest having it replaced immediately. When i had the issue the SES light took its sweet time showing up. So for the longest time i had been experiencing the complete loss of power while on the road and nobody could fix it.
It's a hair-raising experience when you're on the freeway when suddenly you lose power in the middle lane with everyone zooming past you. Or worse, you take off from a stoplight, engine dies, you sit there with hazards on and trying to start the car back up, with a big rig (along with the rest of moving traffic) heading your way from the back at 40mph honking like crazy.

I agree with soundmike, get it fixed. My car wouldn't completely die, but for a second or two, there would be no power then my car would start running normally again. It would do it once or twice, then not again for months. My code reader would show a pending P0340 code (if I remember right) which was the bank 1 sensor, but the SES light would never actually come on.

Does yours fall in the VIN range in accordance with the RECALL! The Stealership isn't obligated to fix all three sensors only the one/s that are defective. My cam Sensor on Bank 1 went out that's the rear bank with cylinder 1,3,5. I asked for all of them to be replaced and they only did the cam sensor @ bank one! I didn't fall in the VIN range either....

do it yourself it's easy! cost is about $75 but call ABC Nissan 18003731066 or hook up with DaveQ! Have autozone clear it if you don't have a OBD2 tool.... the rear head is where the sensor is on the transmission side!

I just had mine done for free on the recall. Threw the code on the way home, went by Advance and got it checked. Next day drove to the dealership and it tried to cut out on me, then when I arrived and shut off the car, it wouldn't start.
Long story short, get it done as it can leave you immobilized. Mine went from a-ok to a no-start condition within 30 miles.

I know man, it did that to me in the middle of an intersection... I'm very upset with the fact I cannnot get it replaced on the recall... I called Nissan of North America, the gentleman named Mark Allen told me that the only thing I could do was pay the $94.00 to get a Licensed Nissan Dealer to run their diagnostics on the vehicle and go from there. I asked if he could tell me what was the next step and he said that the only tihng Nissan could do was replace it out of "Good Will" which was very unpromising....
