Viscous Limited Slip Differential - VLSD
How long do they usually last in these cars? I read something somewhere that said most VLSD's after 60,000 miles will act primarily as an open diff. I'm wondering how much longer mine is going to work properly. I have something in the 163K area on mine and it seems to be working just fine.
Anyways this is my first FWD vehicle so this kind of thing is new to me. Is there anyway to change the fluid in the diff, or is it all built in to the trans? Therefor changing the trans fluid changes the diff fluid?

I've got 78k on my 01, no problems so far, but then again, it's the only car i've ever driven with vlsd. Is your 00 a canadian version, or is it one that isn't listed in your sig? 00 us specs dont come w/ vlsd.

It depends on how hard the car has been driven. If you are making use of the VLSD all the time, then it is not going to last as long obviously. If you are not hard on the transmission, then it could in theory work fine for the life of the car. There is no way to change out the fluid, it is a sealed unit.

From what I read last night I thought all auto 2K/2K1's came with vlsd.

My VLSD is holding up pretty well, and i beat on it alot.. but thats probably why its starting to slip gears

Don't you have an auto? I thought that the vlsd only came on the 5spds? Correct me if I am wrong.
