Car fails to start on first crank at times
For some odd reason, I have been experiencing a faulty start problem in the past couple of weeks. In fact, I had just replaced a starter last week because of this ongoing problem. Almost everyday when I start the car, it would crank half way and then shut off. But on the second attempt it would turn over like no problem at all. This happens intermittently on cold starts and/or hot starts (doesn't matter). From what I had checked, my battery, alternator, MAF, throttle, and spark plugs are all good. I can hear my fuel pump working, so I assume it's good. I'm not sure if this is a fuel problem, crank sensor problem, or an O2 sensor problem since I have no codes. What could be going on? Anybody else experience this before? I did have a P0138 and P0139 code about two months ago, but it never came back since I cleared it. Could this O2 sensor be causing the "no crank on first attempt"? I do not want to go through another starter, because eventually I will have to replace it again if I do not get to the bottom of this! Please help. Thanks.
