I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble with chips in the front bumper of their 2000 Maxima?

I know that some level of wear and tear will happen, but I swear that BUGS are causing it!! I think that Nissan did something wrong with the paint or the bumper is made too soft.

I have had mine for about 14 months (17,000 miles) and I started noticing this after I had the car for about 4 months!

i've had mine like 5 months and 8200 miles
and trust me it chips on mine too
most are caused by rocks hitting my car from huge semis

just get a little touch up paint
if it bugs you

I too have noticed that some

bugs left on for a day (no longer) can bubble my paint. I also have been to see the Nissan Paint inspector and got a $400 paint credit (using it toward 15K and 30K services as I dont want a new repainted car). If something is up with the paint, get it back, they will repaint it. There was a rather larger number of 2K max's there to meet him. There were so many, we were getting rental cars because he couldnt see them all quick enough. Mind you, these were all 2Ks, and this was in Nov of last year. I got mine early last summer. You might just have paint that is not to spec.

What you have to decide is if you *really* want a repainted front end or not

Thanks so much for the information!
My Max is an early one..I bought it in Sep. of 1999 so I am sure that I have the same problem. I swear that when I wash bugs off of the car (if it is a big bug) there is a DENT where the bug was! This has really upset me but it is so hard to find the time to go to the dealer and set up an appointment!

By the way.. I HATE Nissan dealerships and salesmen!!!

Dont even start with that SHI>>

I think NISSAN has 3 year olds do their paint job. I have SUPER BLACK 2kmax gle with a SPECKLED WHITE BUMPER.
I figure in bout a month my bumper will be white. and the rest of the car will follow. I only got 9k on mine, and it looks like it has 300k on it. I was considering getting the 3m Bra, but crap , the damage is done. Once i have money to get the whole car repainted i will invest in the 3m stuff.
Oh yeah im gonna give NISSAN consumer affairs a call.

I feel for you man!
But from what I have read you can probably get the front end painted for free! Call your dealer.
As for the "dust magnet black"...I had one black car in my life and I can tell you that I will NEVER have another one! Light colors for me from now on!

dealer?

what do you mean? the dealer would paint the front for free?
hellz no they would do that. No one does shi.. for free. If anything the dealer would charge me 10X what a body shop would charge.

But, if there is any truth to it, let me know what i got to do? what do i say?

same here....

front of my Gray Lustre is starting to get freckles..along with the hood and the wheel well....really cheap *** paint...

Anyone notice that any little pebble that makes contact with your windshield also leaves a pit...unbelievable on how shoddy the quality of the glass is...I have a 5 minute commute on the highway in the AM and there is no way all these marks are from semis...(which I try to avoid)

My car has just turned 4K in 5 1/2 months and its starting to look like it has 20k on it...yuck

I have purchase product similar to a car bra to protect my Maxima front bumper and hood. It's call Clearmask. Check their website @ http://www.clearmask.com.

I guess this is a far better investment compare to car bra. It is a clear transparent film for your hood. It has a limited 5 yrs manufacture waranty on it. On top of that Clearmask will replace the kit if any defect in material or mistake in installation.

Give it a try
