WHEN IT RAINS

HEY GUYS THIS IS MY FIRST TIME POSTING A NEW THREAD SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME.I HAVE AN 02 6MT A FEW WEEKS AGO I LEFT MY SUNROOF OPEN AND GOT WATER IN THE CAR NOW WHEN IT RAINS I GET WATER ONLY ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR FRONT OR BACK DEPENDING ON HOW IM PARK ( THERE'S A SLIGHT HILL ON MY STREET ) ANY IDEA HOW THE WATER'S GETTING IN ? I NEED HELP BAD PLEASE HELP

and it sounds to me like the seal around the sunroof is leaking. I doubt it has anything to do with you leaving the sunroof open. It probably did it before and you just didn't know it... hope this helps

I'm gonna have to agree with Weeble here. Leaving it open once shouldn't cause it to leak all the time. Bad seal around there or it's not closing all the way when you do close it.
Also, did you make sure to shut the sunroof since the last time??

elaborate please. how is it "depending on how I'm parked" that you get rain in your car? you park upside down or something?

GEE WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE TO TYPE IN CAPS? SOUNDS LIKE TO ME YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE SEAL AROUND THE SUNROOF.

Umm. probably gets on the front floor if he's parked facing a downhill.. and probably on the back floor if parked facing uphill????? Get it?

The point is he's getting water inside whenever it rains. Check the sunroof seals and take the headliner out, if needed, to investigate.

Not so obvious:
-Reset the sunroof, it may not have closed properly. try opening and closing it again, propping it, etc.

Common sense items
-Visually inspect the seal.
-Use a garden hose in order to replicate the problem

also possible that the sunroof drain tube is clogged and the water is backing up/finding somewhere else to go

I saw a thread about water in the driver's side floor area, unrelated to the sunroof, you'll have to look around for it. May not be the problem, but worth looking into.

most likely the drain tube to the interior air filter/condenser box is not attached. It rains...rain goes down the air conditioner intake vents (top of the hood) and drains onto the floor instead of out of the car like it should....

or.....weatherstripping around door(s) is bad. Unlikely it's a sunroof issue, probably just coincidence.

HEY GUYS !! I appreciate all the suggestions and will check them all out.and to lowincash I am not typing in capital letters today (hahaha) I will post an update on what I found to be the problem

blue bar at the top of the screen..'search' third button from the right... do an advanced search.. then u can choose which specific forum 5gen.. 4gen.. general..ect.. and u can choose from searching titles only of entire posts... g/l

So I'm guessing rain got into places it shouldn't have and the sun warmed the areas that were filled with water? I hardly ever open the sunroof but this is interesting.

I put a dehumidifier in my cars when they get water in them. A regular heavy boxy room dehumidifier. I set it on cardboard or plywood on the back seat, get it level, close the door on the power cord, and let it run all night on continuous! In the morning the interior will be warm and you will see water condensed out of the interior. It really sucks the moisture out!
