Does your 02-03 Maxima make a snorting sound?

Hey guys whats up, I have noticed that my 03 Maxima makes kind of like a funny snort sound about 1 second after I start the car in the morning...do all Maxima make this snort sound? I have an 2003 Automatic SE, I don't recall my 2003 6SPD SE doing this when I had it....I don't remember for sure though....

Are you referring to some slight engine knocking? Because mine will do that sometimes, especially if turn it off then start it up again. It seems like the oil hasn't had time to seep back down to the oil pan, or something. Clears up within 2-5 seconds though.

I'm not sure if it's the same thing but I hear a series of faint muffled popping sounds after I start my 2000 SE. It also happens when the engine is cold and I'm pushing the accelerator.

I hear a timing chain rattle that could pass for a farting sound on my 03. Never cared about that too much. It is common on these cars as far is know..but then again what the hell do I know!

Yeah I never cared about it too much either, but I figured it would be interesting to see if any of you guys also had this on your 5th gens and if anyone think it was serious.

My car is doing the same thing... the sound goes off after 2-3 seconds but when my oil is brand new.... No sound! Make sure that your oil level is good. Since I use Mobil 1 5W30, i dont have any problem.

Does your oil-pressure light flicker on the dash when it's making the sound? Mine does.

Only when the engine is fully warmed up and been shut off 30-60 minutes. Cold start rattle but no oil light flicker. If my car is warmed up and been off for less than 30 minutes, no rattle, no flicker.

I'm going to get the OEM oil filter since it an anti-drainback valve to see if that helps.
