00 Max GLE vs 03 Max GLE

Okay so right now I have a 00 Max GLE with 115k, and the thing runs awesome and has no leaks at all. I eventually wanted to convert the front end into a 03 front end, new grille and lights. I keep finding 03's for cheap with under 70k miles. So I was wondering if I should sell my 00 and get a 03? What do you guys think?

I've seen bigger power numbers with the 3.0 vs the 3.5 for NA builds

All I have to do is get a tornado and mine will force more air in than yours. Not to mention the 80mpg I will be getting too with 500hp to the wheel.

But in all seriousness, 5.5 max interior and features > 5th gen.
More comfy seats, roll down windows via key fob, standard HID, sideskirts, stereo control on steering wheel, and some other stuff.

steering wheel controls are NOT exclusive to the 5.5 gen though

I like the 5.5, mainly because of the engine. BUT given that I've had my 5th gen and know what's wrong and not wrong with it i don't think i would spend more money on a lower mileage car, and not be sure about maintenance. just my point of view the max is suppose to last long, and if it still looks new why spend more. I'd save and get the 7th gen in a couple of years haha (well once the fix the center console, if they ever do...)

My interior could be just as luxurious if I so felt the need to do so and I do....I am currently installing a laptop in the car for movies, games, music, gps navi, EU tuning, and possibly climate control

If this is the kind of stuff we can expect from you, then you don't really need to start new threads.

If you have a solid 00 then I dont think it would be worth getting into the uncertainty of another used car -- you have no clue what the maintenance records of the 03 is and what problems may have a 'band-aid' on them waiting to bug you once you buy it.
I could be wrong, but you don't sound like you've gotta have the bigger motor. If it were me, I'd enjoy the 00 and do the few cosmetic things you mentioned - your motor isnt even halfway used up @ 115k

How do you use climate control with a car PC?

I have a 00 GLE and considered the same thing. I have just put money into modding it and it really is becoming an eye turner. At first I did have some issues with it, but now with a better suspension, wheels and tires it handles so much better. As far as people discussing the 3.0-3.5 i hear ya. I just would not get the $ I put into my car, so going to keep it for another year or two and then get a newer Maxi or used G35.
If you can afford it and want it, then get!

Sooner the better, so you can start enjoying it.

I test drove an '01 along with the '02 I ended up buying. All I had to do was floor it once in the '02 and it didn't matter that the '01 had leather and less miles.

As much as I'm jealous of those with 3.5 and other little nice things that come with it, the 3.0 is good in its own right. if the car is in good condition, just keep on running it, no use in getting rid of a perfectly good car- and save up for the 8th generation in 2012.
