If it's a LOT then no if there is a moderate ammount then your fine.

Ideally there is metallic grime on the magnets. Visible metal shavings is not a good sign, either way doing the flush was the right step.

Really sucks to have magnets inside the pan vs the drain bolt. One has to bring the pan down to get to know if there is something happening in the tranny (dropping the pan often is a N0-NO since there are so many bolts and the aluminum block is so soft risking cross threading).

That's what I was going to say!

Clutch packs do wear, that is one of the reasons you flush the old coolant out.

I just did a tranny flush on my '02 for the first time a few days ago with Amsoil ATF. The magnets were coated with a lot of metallic sludge, but I couldn't visibly see any actual metal shavings...

You have get the pan off to change the filter though.

That's normal to have a metallic paste as long as there are no metal flakes (plating), no large metal splinters longer than 5/16"(gear edges) you'll be ok...It normal wear and tear.

Yes, but its not really a fillter, but just a screen (ok a screen filter). You really shouldn't have anything in the screen filter. It is meant for metal rather large metal shavings. If you have large metal shavings then you have problems.

I have over 160K on my my and clean the filter screen only one time. It has been fine.
