Berk Intake- AEM or Apexi

Whats the difference between the AEM dryflow filter and Apexi filter. I've seen disputes between K&N and Apexi, but can't find between AEM and Apexi. Is it because the AEM doesn't even compare???

aem is hydrophobic, so it won't stay wet, it doesn't need to be oiled, you can wash it and put it back in the car in less than 30 minutes. The apexi gets tossed out when it is too dirty. But the apexi has the "velocity stack" design so you mights get an extra horsepower or two out of it

Just get the AEM, its substancially cheaper and you'd absolutely never notice a difference between the two filters.

I have an Apexi, and am pretty happy with it.

Hey does anyone know the size of the filter that goes on the Berk Intake?

I'd select AEM over K&N for the reasons outlined by knight_yyz.

I had the Apexi on my BERK for about 1.5yrs...after that it was toast due to dust and other crap stuck in it.

I've had an AEM Dryflow on the BERK for 6 months now.

My impressions;

Apexi vs. AEM
Apexi is significantly louder (deeper growl and it whistles more also)..the Apexi kicked in after 3400rpm and you could hear it
Car definitely felt faster with the Apexi..especially at highway speeds
Apexi is smaller in size than the AEM

The AEM is a really really good filter for the price..and it is WAY more durable..if I had $$$ to burn I would have gone with the Apexi again but I dont so now I've got an AEM

makes sense...about that jwt pop, forgive me for stupidity because i'm new to maximas, but it seems as though that filter is designed to bolt straight up to the MAF...amirite?

i'd like to get one, but if thats the case, no need to get one. my intake only whistles when the car is cold..i'd like more whistle (insert rice comments here)

I bought Apex'i originally because of this article:

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/fil...t/2/index.html

And if you guys want a loud whistle, NWP Spacers + any intake will make all the Civic boys ask you what kind of turbo you have.

When i had my Apexi, someone asked me what the hell i had under my hood. I need to get a new K&N for my injen. I don't mind cleaning and oiling it ever so often.

I just switched my INJEN air filter to an AEM about 2 months ago cause you can buy them right off the shelf @ Advance Auto and the filter was a little bit bigger than the cone filter that came with the INJEN setup. I got 2 extra 3" oiled Air filters If any one wants them I'll take $30/pair.

you'll have to buy an adapter to use their filter, that's separate buddy($$$).

No Advance Auto in Honolulu, HI. I'll check out some local auto shops or head to Napa or Carquest.

hey I'm sorry for newb questions, but, the berk intake will go directly in the car correct? like you don't to get any extra parts for the MAF sensor to fit or anything? Also where is the best place to buy a berk intake w/ AEM dryflow filter?
thanks

yeah replaces your stock filter and lambryth intake duct work. It's more of a short ram style intake. visit their site there are a few pictures (berktechnology.com)

The same reason I bought my Apex'i. Better filtration and dry element is a tiny bit safer with our sensitive MAFs.
