Questions About Intakes

This Mod bug keeps bugging me more & more...

So far, I have installed PIAA Xtreme white headlights & fogs and FSTB on my 01 SE. Now I want to get an intake.

My question to the experts is that when I look at the stock air filter box, I see a lot of sensors & pipe connections going into it. Do intakes like Stillen or Place Racing have connections for all these sensors & pipes?

Thanks in advance,
Jay

You don't need to remove any sensors for the Stillen or JWT popcharger. The only sensor you can remove is the temp. sensor in the stock air scoop. If you remove the scoop, just zip tie the sensor to the battery. Same thing if you get the PR CAI, which has all of the connections for the tubes and sensors.

Thanks for responses

Thanks to everyone for your expertise especially Greg.

Now the next question, which intake is the best and why?

Thanks,
Jay

This'll probably be my next mod too so I'm interested on some feedback as well. CustomMaxima.com has a deal on the PR CAI for $210 right now. Is this a good price or is there better out there?

That's a good price.

Check out the "What are the pros/cons of the different intakes available?" post in the FAQ U.

well my vote will go with the PRCAI. I have one. I just like the thought of the cold air better than the "hot air" intake stillen and JWT have. I was concerned about water and such, but so far, so good and I have been in some nasty stuff. The sound is nice and throaty and the little whistle it has makes me think of a turbo (wishful thinking!).

The PR CAI is the best for hp/tq gains, but you have to be willing to drill a 3" hole in you fender for the filter.

The $tealin Intake uses a K&N filter whereas the JWT uses a generic media filter. I've seen both and I think the K&N is worth the extra money if you live in a dusty area like myself.

Also, I left the air scoop on, so I didn't have to move ANY sensors.

My only/main concern is do I "waste" my money now for the PR CAI or just wait for my SC?

Well, I hope I'm not being presumptuous.......but, if you are planning on a $3K-$3.5K investment in an S/C, then the $200 (on sale for $199 right now at cattman) really shouldn't be that big of a financial burden in the meantime.

That's true...especially when I'm itching for the speed NOW!!! Besides, once I get the SC the PRCAI should be easy to sell. I'm waiting mainly on my other options with the other .org member's SC's. Who's the ones building those NEway?

yo_its-ok (aka Hogan) is working on some SC kits. They are due out in Spring of 2002 and they look very promising.
