Opinions on gauge placement

So I want to install a voltage gauge in my car, but dont want it to be seen. Since I already have my satellite radio installed in my ash tray, I cannot put the gauge there. So I thought of this. I want to semi-flush mount it into my fuse box cover. I started to trim an extra cover, and this is what i have for now. Next I will fiberglass the gauge bottom so i can paint it and make it all smooth and matching in color. Any opinions?

Well I see that being a good hidden place, but as big guy like me I would see myself knocking it with my knee a few times.

But a good spot nonetheless

I'm kinda short (5'6") and I sit all the way back, so i know that I have the clearance. That is one of the 1st things i thought of when i was trying to find a spot.
