Auto Trans: Shift Points Question

I,m going to have the throttle positioner /trans shift adjusted. In overdrive it quick shifts right through
2nd to 3rd. In trying to wind out without really going hard on the pedal it will only go to 3400 rpm and then shifts
for all gears. Most power and torque starts at 3900. Seeems like it should at least wind to 4100 when pressed hard.
In ovedrive around town it shifts through all gears at a steady 2100 to 2300 shift point. Torque convertor locks up in 4th and your only doing 41mph @ 2100 rpm.. This leaves no pedal and when you try to accelerate to keep up with the flow it lurches from 4th back to second. Is this right? Would an after market chip change or shift kit be the answer? This can't be right for even stock settings. Anyone have the same conditions?
