if you servicing the ball joint, wouldn't it be easier to find out the nut size? i couldn't recall excatly, perhaps it's 18mm.

Your absolutely right. But i am asking for someone new to a maxima. They wanted to make sure they have all parts to do the job. Will wait to hear others chime in.

It's takes a 19mm wrench or socket! The best way to remove it is remove the strut to knuckle hardware, remove the tierod from the knuckle and the drive shaft axle, loosen the ABS line and the brake line and remove the cotter pin and put that 19mm socket straight on it. I'd do that if your removing the knuckle or replacing the balljoint or LCA. Good Luck!!! But if you're just trying to tighten it use a combo wrench and don't forget your cotter pin!

Since we are talking about ball joints here, I had trouble tighting down the tierod because the balljoints were keep spinning. The question Is what do you guys use to hold the LCA ball joints or the ball joints on the tierod ends? Thanks.

hit it with an air ratchet or hold the shaft with a set of mini vise grips and get it started and then hold the tierod with a C-clamp and hit it with the air ratchet...If that doesn't work you'll need a new tierod!

If a tie rod end or balljoint needs to be held for tightening it should be replaced because it's almost impossible to grip it without damaging the boot.

you can just put a small jack underneath to hold some pressure and it will tighten if threads are clean

But then it's impossible to properly torque it down unless they make torque box wrenches.
