Rear Shock Mount Question

Rear Shock Mount Question
I installed new rear shocks on the 2000 max. The lower mounting bolt stripped so I went to the dealer to order. When I looked over the diagram, I saw two parts I did not replace. One is a seal (part number 55338) and a plate (55249) which I believe is actually a gasket like material. The seal looked completely deteriorated so I figured it did not matter if there was one or not. I assume it is there to stop water from leaking in, but I figured the rubber mount would do that. One question, do I need that seal?
So any thoughts? Thanks guys

I believe it's to prevent metal to metal chaffing. You should be ok, but you might get some annoying squeking noise.
We are talking about #3 in this diagram?

My computer at work will not let me see the diagram. But I assume, yes it is what you are pointing out. It is just that, a cushion between the mount and the inside firewall. I went and bought two. I still have the car jacked up and the wheels off so I figure I will put the seal in. The last thing I want is any noises.
