MT tranny experts step in please

car: 02 6mt 25k orig miles

heres the issue:

I LOST 6th GEAR! lol.. yeah.. it just isnt there anymore im not sure syncros or what but when the car is off and on it does the same thing.. i cant get it into 6th..feels like it is being blocked almost.. almost like if you were going 35mph and tried to get the car back to 1st.. it just wont let you (best i can describe it sorry) ,...no grinding nothing,..higher rpms dont help,.. im stuck here,.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

anyone? ... i know we have a rod design from our shifter to tranny.. does 6th have its own seperate rod because its an OD gear? and maybe somehow it got bent?.. im reaching here but cant figure it out...any advise is appreciated even if its just a guess...

The 6 speeds don't have shift rods, they have shift cables.

Have you tried disconnecting the shift linkage at the trans side and shifting into 6th there?

thats why i love this place lol.. good advice never thought of that.. guess that can eliminate a few things huh... only problem is im not sure how to correctly go about doing that.. as easy as it sounds?.. putt the cotterpin looking thing out and shift it,.. anything i need to be aware of.. lining the shifter up upon reinstall ect?

Yep, just remove the cotter pins and shift around. You might want to watch as someone else shifts before you take it apart, so you can get an idea of where 6th should be.

No real need to line the shift linkage up on reinstall, whichever gear you leave the trans in (except reverse) oncce you get the shift cables on the shifter will be in the correct place.

Have you tried to put it into 6th while pulling the reverse lock out?

ok so UPDATE:

NVM- thought i was getting it into 6th tranny side but it was reverse

getting dark out now.. im going to have to tackle this this weekend
