Bought my 02 at 119 I'm at 140 now, it's a good engine but they tend to have parts that you will have to replace after 100k.

I changed the pressure steering hose and the radiator so far but the car in general runs good.

Stick to these forums and ask questions and read and learn more about the max.

Also the 02 is a ***** to work on so just get a mechanic.

Disagree... not that bad once you get used to it. I can do plugs in an hour these days lol.

Oh and I bought my 03 with 100k miles a year ago. Have since put 20k miles on it and sprayed several bottles of nitrous, tons of track visits... Still running strong!

I have to disagree, I bought mine about 2 weeks ago, car feels strong and runs smooth as butter. Car looks in perfect condition, not one single stain in the interior. Bought mine with 115k miles for $6,500. Hehe pretty funny about car burning oil, sounds really familiar (cough Cobra cough)

i bought my maxima abuot a month ago. only problems it has given me that werent my fault (accident) were a bad control arm bushing and a bad temp sensor. 25 bucks for the sensor and 55 for a used control arm got things working perfect. and i only paid 1000 for it. and it runs better than any car i ever driven.

I got my 01AE with 89k give or take, now i have around 104k and its still running like a charm. All I give it is an oil change. The max is a good car, it should last you long.

Bought my 2000 maxima with 66k in 2005,

Finally going to be through paying for it in 4/2012 (I rolled in some CC debt into the equity in the car)

in Nov 2011 I have 172k on the car.

This year I have repaired:
FD Ball Joint
RP Brake Calliper
FD Wheel Bearing
FD Struts
Flextube on cheap Precat

What are my chances of selling the thing at 180k miles for $2k or more if I show a printout of the repair record from my favorite shop? Its starting to show some wheel well rust, and I got some scratches and dings.

Hate to say goodbye to the thing because the drivetrain is going strong but I cant keep dumping money into the thing.

Yes, holy old thread batman!

Taking your car into a dealer and looking at pre-owned cars or new cars, the dealer can set the "trade in value" of your car to almost any number. $3,000 or even more, because no money is changing hands. Keep shopping around, throw out some bluffs saying a friend offered to buy it for cash..etc to keep the offers going.
