how do u do the math 2 determine what wheel & rim combo?

I want 2 get winter tires 4 my Y2K Max ... went to the Toronto Meet & was told that I definately need winter tires ... so ...

but I don't know what size rims & tires will work with my car ... is there a gen'l formula? I know I have 2 choose wisely so that my speedo still worx .. right?

If you are changing the rim size... here it is... you have to convert the rim size to (mm) from inches... so if you have 16" rims, multiply 16 X 24.5, then add the sidewall of your tire times 2 ( top and bottom of tire) find the with 225 and multiply by the aspect ratio like 45 as a %, so it will be like 225 X .45, then add your two nubers together and you have your overall wheel/tire combination diameter.

when you want different rims and tires... work backwards to get the same overall diameter.
