Broken Gear Indicator switch.. anyone know price?

So I am changing my cv boot and I followed motorvates instructions to remove the gear indicator switch to drain gear oil (im 5 speed).
I took out the bolt and tried to pry it out w. flathead and the freakin gear indicator clip broke!

why do they make this crap out of plastic???

Anyone know how much a new one is? I suppose this one will still go in fine, but i wouldnt be able to tighten it with the bolt (is that necessary? whats the pressure in there?)

thanks

the bolt was fine.. it came out no problem...

after i took the bolt off... the thing itself was in so good that it was hard to get out

anyone know how much pressure is on the gear oil? I'm kinda thinking of making a mount that goes over it and screws into that hole.. should work no?

they really should make them out of metal!

There's no real pressure, as there's no pump in the MT and plenty of air, not to mention the pressure equilization port.

Why would they make the switch out of metal? It serves its purpose just perfectly as it is, made of plastic. Making it out of metal would make the switch more expensive. As far as how much it is, if you actually look around and price it out, you'll see it's roughly $25-30 wherever you go, including the dealer.

It is NOT a drain plug. Had you taken the time to find that out, you wouldn't be trying to rig something up now. As far as just putting it back in, now you've also got to make sure it goes in with the right orientation since you no longer have the mounting point to line up.

As often as these threads pop up, you'd think people would learn...

$24.62.

Also, ~$25-30 at most auto parts stores, as I said above.
