Cold Acceleration Problems.

Alright, I don't post on here a whole lot but I do browse a lot.

Here's my problem. I own a 00 Max GXE 5spd w/ 139k miles. Now that the temperature is cooling down I'm having a problem. Whenever I leave my car out for a few hours or overnight in the cold I have harsh start off problems. I always let my car sit for about 15-20 secs before I put it into first and take off. Whenever I go to take off, I throttle at regular but my car will slug off... but then a few seconds later it will seem to quit bogging down and take off, then slow, the take off... on and off a few times. It bogs down terribly, and sometimes takes off hard enough to throw me back. But once my car gets warm its good to go.

What could be causing this? This is quite the new problem and I have done nothing mechanically that would create this problem

Sounds like you could have a bad Maf sensor(or simply one that needs to be cleaned) or possibly a gunked up throttle body. Not completely sure because both usually aren't temperature based problems.

I cleaned the MAF out mid summer, and it seemed to run fine afterwards. But I'll take it and examine it. Also I haven't touched the throttle body so I'll give that a shot too...

Its just weird that this only happens when the engine is cold...

temperature generally play an effect because of the expanding of all the mechanical parts within the engine/transmission. throttle body is most likely your issue.
