Cigarette Lighter

Cigarette Lighter
I was using the cigarette lighter adapters in both the front and back seats as a power adapter for a laptop, and they both don't work now. I changed both fuses but they still don't work. I assumed if I plugged something in that drew too much power that the fuses would blow but they could be replaced. Could I have damaged the power adapter itself?

I was letting the kids watch a movie on my laptop; I had an AC converter plugged into the backseat lighter. When that blew, I had the bright idea of plugging it into the front lighter! It was never a problem with my older laptop, I've been doing it for years, but the new one must draw more power.

look at your ac adaptor for you laptop and see how much power it draws, the sockets should be good for 120 watts. if your adapter is rated at something much lower than 120w then you probably have another problem if it is rated around or above 120w it is most likely a fuse.

Ahhhh....it's rated for 130W.

Feldman, good call on the adapter wattage rating.

There should be a panel that's located by the driver's left knee. Open it and on the back of the cover is a map of the fuse locations.
Where are the ones under the hood located? I haven't checked for them yet.

still trying to figure this out
I still haven't been able to get this to work, I once again replaced the fuses for the front and back power adapters.
The fuses inside the hood aren't labelled as either power adapter or cigarette lighter....
I'm stumped!
