guys, whats the power for the 2k2 Max OEM headunit?? is it too much to change a 160W speakers???thanks~~

If i'm not mistaken the 2k2 stock headunit (e.g. Non-Bose) has a 160w rating on it (40x4) or roughly 15-18 watts RMS.

It sounds just as loud as the Kenwood eXcelon unit i had in my previous car though at higher volumes the stock speakers on the 2k2 gives way.

It's never too much to change to higher rated speakers, at this point your concern is if it's also rated to run at lower wattage/RMS. If you're really concerned and don't want to change out your headunit then just get an amplifier and hook it up.

Aside from the eXcelon in my last car i had Cerwin Vega components up front an 6x9's in the rear all powered by just the headunit (note: No external amplifier) and it was already pretty loud at lower volumes.

Also, make sure your speakers have a high sensitivity rating (90db or higher) so that your amplifier/headunit won't have to pump out more power to make it louder at the same volume settings.
