Injen CAI air filter replacement.. where do I buy one?

Where's the best place to get an injen replacement CAI for my 2000 max? thanks

Also I read that some of you guys are against oiling the filter since it may mess up the MAF. What options do I have? [the filter there now looks like it deff needs changing]

Thanks

Try Jegs or Summit Racing. The trick is to apply the right amount of oil. I decided not to get the same Injen filter(X-1011) and go with cone filter from K&N. Get the Apexi if you don't want to deal with the oiling.

so which is considered better? apexi or injen? and if I get the Injen, how much oil should I put on it? It comes with its own oil?

A little more pricey, but that is the best of the best, IMO.

Keep in mind that the filter will reside in the confines of the engine bay and size of the cone filter will be an issue.

The Injen x-1011 cone filter dimensions are:
Flange: 3"
Top Dia.: 4"
Bottom Dia.: 5"
Length: 5"

I recently got the K&N RR-3003.
Flange: 3"
Top Dia.: 5.25"
Bottom Dia.: 6"
Length: 5"

It was a PITA to install. The filter was too big to fit between the radiator hose, trans dip stick and positive battery harness. So I had to drop the splash panel and install it from underneath the car. It's a tight fit but the main thing is it's not touching anything. Pics will be available later.

My recommendation is to stick with a filter that has the same dimensions as the x-1011 and not go any larger than the RR-3003.

Go to any auto part store and get the K&N cleaner/oil kit. When you wash it with the cleaner, the filter will turn white. After drying it out, spray on the oil evenly so it's back to the red look. For me, I apply the oil and let it sit for an hour. Then I take some paper towels and wrap the filter to soak the excess oil. Works for me and no problems thus far.

are you sure that the Injen x-1011 is the regular filter that comes with the injen kit?

My bad. I forgot the "-BR" so it should be the X-1011-BR.

Pretty sure the Injen comes oiled, you only need to oil it if you clean it.

You can fit any type of cone filter as long as it's dimensions are similar to the Injen's X-1011-BR because it will be recessed in the engine bay. Some cone filters like the apexi require a flange adapter/connector. Per ImportCarParts post #7, quoted filter only. You will also need to get an additional 3" silicone hose and two hose clamps to connect the filter setup to the injen downpipe. I have an old picture of the apexi setup on page two of my cardomain page. It's not a close up shot but you will see everything listed above in the photo after the MAF sensor.

All filters perform the same function, oiled or non-oil applications.

To sum up, if you're worried about he oil, then get the apexi setup. If not, then get the injen replacement filter.
