Car Studdering (again)

Let me start off by saying I did a search, but the posts were too old to view and they werent for the 5th gen anyway.

Last winter my car was studdering like crazy (sometimes to the point where the car wouldnt run at all and wouldnt start), CEL kept coming on, flashing, etc. I took it to a local garage, the code was cyl. 6 misfire. They replace a coil and a few other things. Got the car back, it was still studdering. Brough it there again and they checked it over and said another cyl. was misfiring. They fixed something else and I got it back- still studdering. I took it to my local dealer, they said it was another coil that went bad so they replace that. I got the car back and it was still studdering. The weather started getting warmer and the problem went away... Until now...

Now that the cold weather is back the car is studdering like a ***** again. The CEL hasnt come back on yet, but the car is getting worse and worse. I spent over $500 last year and the car still wasn't running and I really don't feel like blowing more money for the garage to do trial and error fixes at my expense.

Has anybody else encountered this? All spring/summer my car has randomly been shutting off when ideling, I'm not sure if this is a different problem or not. BTW its a 2003 with 80,000 miles, and frankencar intake.

Sorry the post is so long but I want to give all the info to help diagnose the problem.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

At his point it might be worth a shot at "carefully" using some CRC (or equivalent) MAF cleaner and see if that helps. Is that an "oiled type" air filter on your intake?

Its the Apexi filter, I'm not sure if its oiled or not. I know maximas are infamous for having crappy MAF's, but I thought once they were bad the car wouldn't go over 3000 RPM or so.

Also, is it common for a problem with a MAF, O2 sensor, or bad plugs to happen only when its cold?

Thanks again guys!
