Why isn't this max sold?????

So, heres my problem. First off i live in Charlotte N.C. I found a 02 6 speed maxima in virginia, grey, baige leather(didnt know they come grey on baige) basically fully loaded bose system, just not the factory navi. Cars a little dirty it has 130xxx miles on it atm. Its a dealer. The car has what seem to be tasteful mods. The dealer doesnt know what the mods really are he called the sway bar a silver connecting rod and he reffered to the suspension as "really expensive brand." however it also has exhaust which seems to look like megan. The car is in Virginia.. i dont feel like dirving 5 hours to find something wrong with the car. Has anyone see this car? hes asking 6700.. before negotiations.. its been up on the market for almost 90+- days. Idk why it hasn't sold he claims that because no one has Cash in hand(and yeah its a cash only deal). Anyone have any idea? no cel btw. says it runs nice. Has a strut bar intake droped on coilover and exhaust, tinted. Any advice would help.
( btw i hope im not making a mistake posting this here, ie.. someone goes n buys it lol.)
Thnx guys.

Ask for a vin, run a Carfax. Take it to a local AAA recommended mechanic for a look over. If it all checks out, go for it.

Who knows, ****ty economy? Or maybe it's, it's a complete POS? It's possible. The last guy I know of that bought a 5.5 gen 6-speed that already had an intake on it (and that one is an injen, ugggh) allblackmax96 ended up getting screwed, the car had been hammered, crashed, and oil consumption is now a quart/week.

If anyone wants to buy that check those exhaust tips real good for excessive oil, also be on the lookout for a metallic tick at idle from the rear bank, it will be most pronounced when cold, it is a side effect from bad oil consumption which caused a valve bucket to get wiped out. Also, while revving in nuetral pay particular attention to any rattle sounds when it is dropping back down around the 2000rpm range, a possible sign of a bad pre-cat which is a precurser/cause of bad bad oil consumption.

Looks good, maybe its the miles? I know that as we speak three very good Maxima's are on sale on Craigslist in the Chicago area but no one is biting.
http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cto/928501100.html (very good deal)
http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/cto/930190197.html
http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cto/931748560.html

Someone please buy these poor Maximas, they need a home with someone who appreciates them.

I dont know about you guys but the "cash only" deal would sketch me out a bit. To me that means the guy is looking for no record of the transaction.

not necessarily...I only accept cash too (but always accompanied with a personal bill of sale). Too many fraudulent people out there and cash is the only sure way of dealing imo. Yes, even Bank checks can be fraudulent. I know firsthand. Someone came to buy my dads q45 some years back and gave him a Chase bank check for $17000. Come to find out it was a fake. After a 2 month police investigation we got the car back. It ended up at an auction house in Jersey.

I was planning on getting a car fax. also the cars been up for over 90+ days and when i asked to come see it he told me the car is only available by appointment.. call me skeptical but i don't see why you would have to have an appointment if theres nothing to hide. Also i had another friend say watch out for that grille. Said usually after wrecking the front end people get cheap grilles because the oem are exxpensive as ****. Intake i've had experience with and heard alotta talk once you get one your maf and a few more things are the first to go. however it reads deposit on it.. This was more of a "anyone in Virginia" seen this max and got a first hand look on it.
But thnx for all the advice. And is the oil consumption really that huge a deal? I thought that was a common problem for the 5.5?

And btw the hood looks "hit" because its popped lol. He sent me person pictures and it sits right. interior is a little dirty but thats all he "claims" is wrong with it.. once again its a dealer and a cash only sale. So assuming that makes people skeptical?

Maybe to make it worth the trip, look for several different cars at other dealers up there and make a day of it. You can do all the searches on-line and then just get the addresses and make the trip. Otherwise, you're going to hesitate going up there and by the time you decide to go it'll be sold.

It's a common problem on all of them for the most part, and nothing to worry about usually, but a small percentage have it so bad that it is requiring motor replacement, that's a big deal.

wait, so 5.5 gen needs new oil added every week/bi-weekly?

I had a 5th gen and never worried about that. is it 5.5 gen specific cause my 5th gen always had the right amount when i randomly checked on occasions.

^ two different engines. Used in "5th gen" term because body style is similar. But no its a more common problem in the vq35's

6 speed doesn't mean it's been abused? Actually i see the 6 speeds are actually better maintained because their rarer and usually only true enthusiast take care of them. Most the autos i see are the ones no one gives a sh*t about. However the drop intake exhaust and cel does back up ur case

post it in the regional forums... maybe somebody who lives close to the dealer and knows about car stuff wouldn't mind taking an in-person look at it for you, instead of you driving 5 hours to do so

^^^^ Thats one of the TOP 5 dumbest posts iv'e seen on this forum in my years.

To realy get solid info about this car you just have to go see it. A dealer will only tell you the good. And pics only show so much..

Take a ride down there with a buddie that know some thing about cars..

Ture that, i learned that the hard way when i bought a swapped motor civic. Your basicly buying someone elses headache.

Simple mods like intake or catback can be put on by anyone and cant realy hurt the motor IMO..
Once internals are touched with or the car has a stage 3 clutch then stay away

It has an Injen intake. Which means the owner went for "looks" mods over "good" mods.
Fail.

From the pics it looks like the car is from a small dealership, which means the guy just buys cars at a auction and then fixes anything major and re-sells them for profit.

The dealer doesnt know any thing about the car besides what the car fax might say ..

You cant tell with pictues and asking people online, you just have to check the car out man....

Im car shopping right now myself, and im just sick of it.... now im just realy keeping my eyes open because I just waisted so mcuh time driving all over hell for some cars that turned out to be junk...

Good Luck bro, sometimes its better to just wait ....
