Sudden HARD cold starts, SES, TCU & Slip lights just came on at the same time as well
After a month long trip to the shop to make repairs due to a collision with a deer, we are just now starting to drive our '00 GLE regularly.
Yesterday was 30 degrees F. It started and ran fine.
Last night things cooled down to around 15 degrees.
This morning I just about had to kill the starter to get the vehicle started.
Them, just to confirm the problem I ran outside this afternoon to try again. This time I had to try even harder to get it started...
And when it did start, it idled high (1500rpm) and the SES, TCS & Slip lights ALL came on at once.
Car ran fine though. The idle settled back down, but all the lights stayed on.
I'm gonna go to AutoZone to diagnose the SES code.
But do you guys have any ideas on the extremely sudden cold start problem and all the lights coming on? Should I perform a reset? ... And if so, how is that done?
Damn, I JUST got this car back, and hate thinking that I have to correlate these sudden problems with the work done at the garage in the last month, as the car had NO problems starting last winter, and has NOT had that many miles put on it since then.

...
Hm.
After a quick drive to warm up the car and then a 20 minute break, I restarted the car... and the Slip and TCU lights are no longer on.
The SES light is still present.
I'm going to try to keep my garage warmer. Maybe some Maximas hate below 15 degree weather?

mine started fine at 7 degrees
lol @ the weather comments.
Maybe this is an ignition coil problem...

There's about 170 comments referring to TCS/Slip and SES lights coming on, trips to the garage, and having to replace ignition coils.
Bleh.
ummm, hey, my Haynes manual only lists codes P0000 through P0605 for '00-'01 Maximas, but has a full list of P0000 thru P1900 for '95-'99, including the P1320 code that lots of '00 Maxima owners are reported as getting.
So should I just assume that the '00-'01 list just includes codes that are different than the '95-'99, but the rest are all the same? It's just odd that the '95-'99 codes are 1.5 pages long, but the '00-'01 codes take up only a page.
BTW FWIW I did recently clean the MAFs on both cars properly and actually switched the GLE's with the GXE's.

lol, i fixed the code number... i accidentally went dyslexic... code P0340 not 0430...
So far I'm not finding too much on this code.
The car got towed back to the collision joint, and they've gotta decide whether the problem was due to the deer accident, due to the mechanic fumbling around while removing and installing intake parts, or due to just bad timing.
I mean hell, it never did this before, and boom, as soon as it's back from the shop it was starting real hard occasionally, and then it started throwing a code.

oooh... the MAF and housing.. yeah... dang, so if they didn't look at the MAF and housing closely enough I could be in for repeated instances of this problem...
The car was taken to a stealership for diagnosis, and they reportedly confirmed that "it was in fact a cam position sensor issue" ... well no ****.
jebus.
So they're replacing the cam position sensor, but I'm gonna take a real close look @ my MAF. It could have been removed un-carefully or something. I'll be kind to it and give it the $5 MAF cleaning, and while I'm at it I'll check the housing area.
So 3 days and likely $200 for a damn $45 part. I had to get the car sent back to the collision shop and notify the insurance company, though, as the problem happened right after the deer accident... so if it was somethin related to that then I wouldn't have had to pay a thing. But the shop was told by the stealership that the cam position sensor failure is common on Maximas with this mileage... hm that's funny, the more commn codes are for coils and O2 sensors, not the cam position sensor... heck I could hardly find anything on the subject of the code I was getting.
