Mandatory Recall On All 00/01 A/t Maximas......
The Nissan North America Motor company announced to us they would be doing a mandatory recall of all 2000-2001 Maximas with automatic transmissions.
Findings from the company state that the vehicle exhibits too many flawed problems and are unsafe to drive in any conditions, at any speed. They will be offering a replacement of the 2002 standard transmission Maxima corresponding to the model in which the owner currently has (GXE, SE, GLE).
It had been apparant to Nissan months, possibly years, ago even as the models were rolling off line. "The models before were well thought out machines. We are in a time now that has a definate split where car enthusiasts are concerned. Those who want a sports sedan will choose the standard, but we feel anyone choosing the automatics will do so as a luxury feature; not as a sporty additive. Therefore, we did not build the fifth generations to withstand the kind of driving they are being put through, and they are breaking. We were in such a hurry to get them to the dealerships, some cars severely lacked in quality. Parts were rattling off, brakes were not properly milled; paint was not applied to the right thickness, and we had hoped that the general public would not notice, and that the problems wouldnt show up until after the warranty would expire."
A spokesperson for Nissan had this to say...
"Got ya...."

I admit I sorta fell for it. It seemed odd that they would replace the car though. For a min I saw the massive of amount of money I have in mods going down the craper. Wish they would recall the tranny though. Thats not gonna happen though.

After reading the first line, I immediately went to the bottom of the post. If anyone read that one about maxima paint on april 1st, imo, that was by far the worst one. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=31361
